A PRESENTE INVENÇÃO DIZ RESPEITO A UM PROCESSO DE TRATAMENTO DE ÁGUAS RESIDUAIS AGROINDUSTRIAIS, PREFERENCIALMENTE PROVENIENTES DE MATADOUROS, LAGARES, QUEIJARIAS OU ADEGAS, ATRAVÉS DE REAÇÃO DE ACIDIFICAÇÃO, COM ADIÇÃO DE ÁCIDOS FORTES, PREFERENCIALMENTE, ÁCIDO SULFÚRICO, CLORÍDRICO OU NÍTRICO. A APLICAÇÃO DESTE PROCESSO DE TRATAMENTO ÀS ÁGUAS RESIDUAIS PERMITE REDUZIR O SEU NÍVEL DE CONTAMINAÇÃO EM TERMOS DE MATÉRIA ORGÂNICA MONITORIZADA POR CARÊNCIA QUÍMICA DE OXIGÉNIO (CQO TOTAL E DISSOLVIDA), NUTRIENTES (FÓSFORO, CÁLCIO E MAGNÉSIO), TURVAÇÃO, FENÓIS TOTAIS E ABSORVÂNCIAS CARACTERÍSTICAS. DESTA FORMA, A PRESENTE INVENÇÃO INSERE-SE NO DOMÍNIO TÉCNICO DO TRATAMENTO DE EFLUENTES PROVENIENTES DE INDÚSTRIAS AGROALIMENTARES.
