In the first case, it was not possible to achieve the necessary combination of the upper layer with the undercoat to a sufficient extent, in the second, a considerable amount of work was necessary, which increased the construction costs considerably, and, in the case of dry mixing, due to the different granularity, also did not give a uniform mass. Notwithstanding the above, the repeated shoveling and the transport of the mixture by wheelbarrows were associated with a considerable waste of time. The present invention removes the above-mentioned drawbacks and also makes it possible to achieve a road surface consisting of a uniformly bonded impermeable stone mass of high strength. and made quickly and cheaply. The binder (mortar) is put in the cracks with full confidence before contact with water. The course of work is as follows: gravel is deliberately placed on a properly prepared base, it is arranged in a layer of a suitable height and lightly rolled once. On this layer, the mortar is evenly distributed in a suitable thickness, with a harrow, and in small sections the furrows are pulled over the gravel with picks or similar tools at such a distance from each other (harrowing of the subgrade) that a tight mixing with the gravel is formed.
