The property of arsenic in improving lead-rich and tin-poorly bearing alloys to the extent that they become as perfect as bearing alloys, which contain significant amounts of tin, is lost, because the alloys usually contain admixtures (e.g. copper or nickel). The reason for this unexpected phenomenon should be seen, as it was noted in the main patent, that the action of arsenic is associated with the formation of possibly large amounts of a specific arsenic-tin compound, the compound As2 Sn3, as a result of which other admixtures, applying to arsenic to form a relationship with it, weaken or hinder its performance. In further development of this invention, it was found that two specific metals, namely indium and cadmium, unlike all other metals , not only that they do not reduce the action of arsenic, but, on the contrary, further enhance the effect. Therefore, cadmium or indium erupt, or the metals are gold at the same time. Both metals, cadmium and indium, are adjacent to tin in the periodic system of elements, having ordinal numbers (Cd 48, In 49, Sn 50) and atomic weights (Cd 112.4, In 114.8, Sn 118.7). This close proximity to tin in the periodic arrangement of the elements has the effect that the formation of alloy hardening As2 Sn3 crystals in the presence of indium or cadmium, or both, is unimpeded. On the contrary, these metals form constant solutions with the hardening action of As2 Sn3 crystals, with the result that the latter become even harder. The hardness of bearing alloys increases even more by the addition of the above dopants. The additions of cadmium and indium, or the simultaneous addition of both of these metals, ranges from 0.5% to 3.5%.
