Description

1 przedstawia rzut pio¬ nowy, a fig. 2 — rzut poziomy jednego przykladu wykonania takiego urzadzenia o kilku retortach. a oznacza walcowate, pionowe naczynie z przykrywa b i z króccem c do uchodzenia gazów. PL PL For the distillation of heavy hydrocarbons down to heavy asphalt or solid residues (coke), relatively large vessels (distillation boilers) are usually used in the petroleum, brown-coal and carbon-carbon, O-Simoyl and related industries. Distillation boilers are filled to a certain height with liquid, and then their contents are distilled down to asphalt or solid coke. Particularly in the case of distillation into solid coke, great inconveniences arise. To obtain a commercial product from coke, it must be annealed so that it does not contain any asphalt components. When using this type of still, coke remains in the still at the end of the distillation, forming a high layer. Annealing the coke is very difficult due to the thickness of the layer; the still glows even before the top layer of coke has been freed from the asphalt, and as a result, the still is destroyed very quickly. The surface of these kettles can only be partially used as a heating surface, because only those parts of them can be exposed to the action of the combustion gases, which are covered with asphalt or coke after the end of distillation. The second major disadvantage of these distillation kettles is that the coke can only be removed after the kettle has cooled down completely, because in order to remove the coke it is necessary to enter the kettle, which is connected with the danger for the operators due to the formation of gases. This danger also applies when cleaning the boiler. The unfavorable effect of fire gases on the walls of such distillation vessels is even greater if distillation takes place under pressure or in a vacuum. The risk of damaging the distillation vessel is significantly greater in this case. By using cylindrical vessels with a relatively small diameter (retorts), these defects can be eliminated, as in this case the thickness of the layer to be annealed is reduced. Due to the small cross-section of the retorts, distillation under pressure or in a vacuum is also safe and it is easier to avoid burning the retort walls due to the smaller layer of coke or liquid. However, if retorts of a known design are used for distillation, another, very troublesome drawback will appear. Namely, if a liquid with 20% coke content is to be distilled in the retort, the liquid content in the retort must be less than 5 times as great as the coke content. If, at the end of distillation, only the coke content in the retort is to be subjected to the action of fire gases for the purpose of annealing, then at least 4/5 of the retort must protrude above the furnace. For this reason, the retorts produced in practice are, in fact, very long and incomparable. These defects can be eliminated if the retorts are placed in the lowest possible place in a boiler of any shape in this way, so that as distillation proceeds, material, the liquid fell from the upper, larger part of the kettle into the retorts, so that at the end of distillation, if possible, the entire retort, or at least most of it, remained exposed to the action of the fire gases. In some cases, it is again practical to implement the invention in such a way that each individual retort is provided with a kettle-shaped extension. It is then very convenient to combine any number of such retorts in a single furnace. The use of a kettle of appropriate size with only one retort is sufficient, especially in cases where the raw product subjected to distillation produces relatively little residue, or when only small quantities are distilled. Fig. 1 shows a vertical view, and Fig. 2 — a horizontal view of one example of such a device with several retorts. denotes a cylindrical, vertical vessel with a cover b and a nozzle c for the escape of gases. At the bottom d of the boiler are placed retorts 6, of a suitably conical shape, open on the inside of the boiler and closed on each side with removable covers 1. The apparatus, surrounded by a suitable lining g, is surrounded by fire gases, entering at h and escaping at i. The contents remaining in the retorts e at the end reach up to point h or up to the upper lining of the furnace. At the beginning of distillation, the boiler is filled to height Z. The upper part of the boiler a is not exposed to the hottest fire gases during the entire distillation. However, it is possible to allow the gases to escape. The fire gases escaping into the chimney circled the upper part of the boiler, flowing, if necessary, also through the flame tubes in the boiler. This type of device makes it possible to obtain large heating surfaces, a large capacity of the device, and it is possible to select the ratio of the size of the upper part of the boiler and the retorts so that at the end of the distillation, the content remaining in the apparatus fills only the retort, which is surrounded by the fire gases. After the distillation is completed, the lids of the retorts are opened and the contents are removed. Cleaning of the retorts can be easily accomplished from the inside by removing the lid b. An example of a distillation boiler with a cylindrical, horizontal upper part is shown in Fig. 3 in a vertical view, and in Fig. 4 in a horizontal view. horizontal projection. a denotes a large boiler, c a gas outlet, e and e1 are retorts, located at the lowest point d of the boiler; / are retort covers, removable. Fire gases enter the apparatus masonry g at h and flow in the direction of the arrow and into the chimney. When using several retorts, they can, as can be seen, e.g., with retorts e1?, be arranged in groups of any number of retorts, or, according to the example shown with retorts e, be arranged in a row of any number. Cleaning of the retorts after emptying them can be done from the outside, thanks to the placement of appropriate cleaning holes m, or from the inside, if the boiler is sufficiently clean. large. The distillation of the liquid content takes place, as explained in the embodiment according to Figs. 1 and 2, from the liquid level Z up to level k in such a way that at the end of distillation the fire gases encircle the full retorts. The boiler a is protected from the direct action of the hottest fire gases by the brickwork {n. Both shown examples of the apparatus design meet the requirements set, however, cleaning the retorts after the distillation is completed is associated with difficulties in the case of large boiler sizes, since in most cases the boiler must be opened and entered for thorough cleaning. This is particularly inconvenient if the produced coke adheres strongly to the retort walls. In the example of the design shown in Fig. 5 to 7, this defect has also been removed. A denotes a boiler, e.g., cylindrical, lying horizontally, filled with liquid up to a height of L. In the lower part d of this boiler, retorts e are placed with side branching connectors, closed at the bottom with covers f and at the top with covers f, thanks to which the retorts are easily accessible for cleaning. The upper parts of the retorts protruding from the apparatus's brickwork g are protected by a casing o from heat radiation. This casing is removed during emptying and cleaning of the retorts. The boiler as well as the side connectors of the retorts are protected by a ceiling n from the effects of the hottest fire gases. The filling of the boiler is measured so that at the end of distillation, the residue in the apparatus fill the retort up to the height k. After distillation is completed, the covers ft and f are opened and the retort contents (coke) are pushed out from the outside through the emptying holes. To reduce repair costs to a minimum, the retort is preferably made of two parts, where the upper part of the retort, provided with a nozzle and a cleaning hole, is connected to the part of the retort exposed to the action of the fire gases in an easily detachable manner (using flanges). In conical retorts, these joints are deliberately located at the narrowest point, and preferably outside the brickwork, so as not to be exposed to the fire gases. Conical retorts, widening towards the opening through which they are emptied, have the advantage that pushing out the coke is significantly easier. Figures 8, 9, and 10 show an example of the invention with several retorts, each of which has a boiler-shaped expansion. "e" and "e" denote retorts, preferably widening conically downwards and having a boiler-shaped expansion at the top. These boilers can either be made of one piece, together with the retort (3), as seen in the drawing, with retort "e" (1). or be releasably connected to the retort (e.g., by means of a flange £), as seen in retort e. Boiler a is filled to height l, and the liquid is distilled to level k in the retort. In this design, the fire gases reach the common channel q for all retorts, e.g., from the grate p, and then through openings r, provided with brick ribs, to the retorts. The amount of fire gases led to the individual retorts is regulated by means of gate valves s in accordance with the progress of distillation in each retort. The gases leave through the common outlet channel # to the chimney. The boilers are protected by the vault n from the direct impact of the hottest fire gases. The fluid is fed to the retorts most conveniently through a common pipe u, closed by a valve v. Distillation gases from all retorts can flow through pipes x into a common distillation line y, and appropriate placement of valves 1 allows for taking a sample at any time. Distillation vapors from each retort can also flow through pipes x to separate coolers. Valves w, 2 and 3 serve to close the working lines. After the distillation process is completed, the residues in the retorts are pushed out by opening the covers f. If, in an apparatus consisting of several retorts and having a common furnace, one retort is damaged, it can be immediately switched off by closing valves v and w. In order to achieve the most uniform temperature of the distilled liquid in all layers of each retort with relatively long retorts, steam is injected into the distilling liquid during the distillation process from the common steam line C through the valves B and the nozzles A, located as low as possible in the retort, as shown in Fig. 10, or also through the holes in the lids /. The retorts can be placed not only vertically, but also in any other position. PL PL
