Sposób otrzymywania cyjanku barowe¬ go, polegajacy na przepuszczaniu przez mieszanine wegla i weglanu barowego w wy¬ sokiej temperaturze azotu, byl juz oddaw- na wskazany przez Margueritte'a i Sour- deval'a. Reakcja ponizsza objasnia ten sposób: C03Ba + C+ + Az2 = (CN)2 Ba + SCO.Najwieksza trudnosc praktyczna tej reakcji polega na tern, ze weglan barowy to¬ pi sie przed rozpoczeciem reakcji; powodu¬ je to szybkie zuzycie pieców uzywanych w tym celu, pochlania duze ilosci paliwa i wreszcie powstaja znaczne straty baru, któ¬ ry laczy sie z tworzywem, sluzacem jako wykladzina pieca.Sposób, stanowiacy przedmiot wynalaz¬ ku niniejszego, pozwala uniknac trudnosci i polega na dodaniu do weglanu barowego i wegla przed rozpoczeciem reakcji pewnej obliczonej ilosci krzemianu dwubarowego (Si 02 2 Ba O) w celu otrzymania miesza¬ niny nie topiacej sie w temperaturze two¬ rzenia sie cyjanku barowego.W praktyce wystarczy zmieszanie jed¬ nego mola krzemianu dwubarowego i jedne¬ go mola weglanu barowego, aby reakcja da¬ la wynik zadawalajacy.Korzysci tego sposobu sa nastepujace: 1) otrzymanie masy nietopliwej, 2) zaoszczedzenie weglanu barowego, 3) moznosc zastosowania pieców obro¬ towych o znacznej wydajnosci, 4) zaoszczedzenie paliwa.Otrzymany cyjanek barowy, zmieszany z krzemianem barowym i innem tworzywem W rodzaju nadmiaru wegla, nierozlozonego weglanu barowego i t. d., moze sluzyc badz do otrzymywania amonjaku syntetycznego, badz do otrzymywania cyjanków alkalicz¬ nych.
