Description
Opis wynalazkuDescription of the invention
The subject of the invention is a method of producing a loose granular bed from waste from the processes of abrasive blasting of metal surfaces, consisting in cleaning/preparing metal surfaces for subsequent technological processes.
During the abrasive blasting process, a large amount of waste is generated, which is a component of broken abrasive grains, impurities on metal surfaces and compounds released from the elements cleaned during the treatment (anti-corrosion pigments, dyes, including toxic substances). Waste dust pollutes the environment and can also cause explosions. What's more, such dust in small amounts is virtually imperceptible to the naked eye, and its spread is very fast and intense. Inhalation of this dust by humans can lead to a number of serious respiratory diseases, which is why manufacturers using abrasive blasting equipment and technologies are required to meet the relevant requirements regarding contaminants generated during blasting. The storage of this dust is cumbersome and expensive, as is disposal. One of the ways to manage this type of dust may be its synthesis into granules of various sizes, natural environment.
Rozwiązaniem tych problemów byłoby nadanie drobnoziarnistemu odpadowi powstającemu w wyniku obróbki strumieniowo-ściernej regularnych, sferycznych kształtów i utworzenie w ten sposób sypkiego złoża.The waste generated in abrasive blasting processes is characterized by many unfavorable physical properties, including the content of grains with sizes smaller than 1 micrometer, very low bulk density. They also take up a large volume, which makes it difficult to store and transport them, and moreover, they have irregular shapes, which causes them to clump together into larger fragments and make it difficult to pour them out of containers and possible dosing and loading. The solution to these problems would be to give the fine-grained waste resulting from abrasive blasting regular, spherical shapes and thus create a loose bed.
In the journal Eksploatacja i Reliability, 2003 (2), pp. 21-23, recycling of grinding waste is considered in terms of its utilization in the metallurgy. A process of compaction and then consolidation of post-grinding waste is proposed here. In order to remove excess water, it is proposed to use a plate filter press, thanks to which filtrates with a hydration of 25% are obtained. The consolidation of waste is carried out using a laboratory hydraulic press. The final results showed that the use of binding additives in the form of water glass, rocrysol and acetic acid increases the mechanical strength of the moldings and their resistance to aging. The briquettes obtained were intended to replace scrap for remelting in electric furnaces.
The patent description PL 188383B1 presents a method of processing metal waste, consisting in the production of briquettes from scale, iron-bearing dust and molasses. In this solution, 15 - 45% of iron-bearing dusts are used for 100% by weight of scale. The next step is drying and adding molasses, which is used in the amount of 5 - 10% by weight in relation to the weight of the other ingredients. Then, the obtained mixture is briquetted and seasoned. The resulting briquette is recommended as a component of the charge of steel furnaces.
Briquetting of metal waste is also known from patent description EP1726666. The metal mixture containing metal powder and balls is formed into a briquette after shot blasting by means of increased pressure and binding additives. The resulting briquette can be used as a furnace charge for re-melting steel. Sodium silicate, colloidal silica, aluminum phosphate and asphalt emulsion are mentioned as binding additives, and the briquette may also contain oil. The oil prevents the oxidation of the pure iron present in the briquette and thanks to this, the briquette can be used as a high-quality material for the production of steel.
W opisie zgłoszenia patentowego US 5266122A przedstawiono sposób obróbki odpadów z oczyszczania strumieniowo-ściernego, zanieczyszczonych metalami ciężkimi, w wyniku którego powstają inne, niż niebezpieczne, odpady ścierne. In the description of patent application US 5266122A, a method of treating waste from abrasive blasting contaminated with heavy metals was presented, which results in non-hazardous abrasive waste. In the method described in this patent, a small amount of ground hydraulic cement or a cement-like substance is directed onto a metal surface coated with the material to be removed, whereby the cement breaks down into a cement powder in the presence of water, which reacts to form a cement powder in the presence of water. superficial silica gel that binds the particles into a cementitious whole. The proportion of cement added is a function of the expected type of contamination, level and conditions in the workplace.

The methods presented above, involving the pressure granulation of waste, are energy-intensive and do not allow the process to be carried out with a capacity of several or several tons per hour. Non-pressure metal encapsulation methods require very high temperatures to anneal the product.
The aim of the present invention is to develop a method of agglomeration and encapsulation of waste after abrasive blasting, which does not have the aforementioned disadvantages of the known methods of agglomeration of metal waste and their encapsulation.
The method of producing a loose granular bed from waste after the processes of abrasive blasting of metal surfaces by agglomeration with the use of water glass as a binder and using polymer encapsulation, according to the invention, is characterized in that the fine-grained waste resulting from the blasting of metal surfaces is introduced into to disc granules with periodic operation, in such an amount that the ratio of the volume of introduced fine-grained waste to the volume of the granulator disc is equal to 0.10 - 0.4, then the material placed in the granulator is subjected to mixing at the speed of rotation of the granulator disc 7 - 30 rpm/ minute for 0.5 - 1.5 minutes, and then, while mixing with the same rotational speed of the granulator plate, the granulated bed is sprayed with a 30 - 90% aqueous solution of sodium or potassium water glass at a temperature of 8 - 32°C for 4 - 25 minutes, introduced in the amount of 400 - 1500 g per 1000 g of bed, under the pressure of 8 - 45 kPa. After the spraying is completed, the material is further mixed at the rotational speed of the granulator plate of 7 - 30 rpm for 2 - 15 minutes, and then the resulting agglomerates are dried at a temperature of 80 - 150°C or immersed without drying for 5 - 15 minutes. minutes in a mixture of unsaturated polyester resin and polymerization initiator in the form of methyl ethyl ketone peroxide used in the amount of 1 - 3% by weight in relation to the weight of the resin, at a temperature of 20 - 25°C, subjected to shaking on a shaker operating at a speed of 80 - 150 rpm, then the polymer coated agglomerates are dried at 80 - 120°C. Agglomeration and encapsulation using the method according to the invention is applied to fine-grained waste with a moisture content of up to 3% and a grain size of up to 3.15 mm. The bed in the granulator is sprayed with an aqueous solution of water glass, preferably in the form of drops with a diameter of 0.01 - 4 mm or in the form of a stream.
Sposób według wynalazku umożliwia przetworzenie i zmianę właściwości fizycznych produktu odpadowego z obróbki strumieniowo-ściernej, często składowanego dotychczas na terenie zakładu i przekazywanego do utylizacji. The method according to the invention makes it possible to process and change the physical properties of the waste product from abrasive blasting, which has so far been stored at the plant and sent for disposal. By the method according to the invention, a loose agglomerated granular bed is obtained, which is easy to store, transport and dose. Moistening the bed with a water glass solution ensures obtaining agglomerates with high mechanical strength, which, together with the drying process, ensures obtaining granules dry on the outer surface, which form a non-caking bed with flowability allowing for free transport of agglomerates for subsequent technological operations. Covering the surface of granules with a polymer ensures the encapsulation of harmful chemical compounds included in the processed waste, increases the strength properties of agglomerates and ensures their smooth surface. The method according to the invention, based on non-pressure (disc) granulation and coating by dipping in a polymer, requires much less energy compared to briquetting and pelleting, which makes it economically more advantageous. The agglomerates obtained by the method according to the invention can be used for the production of ballasts in the construction industry and in mines, instead of crushed stone used for this purpose, and as decorative materials.
Sposób według wynalazku ilustrują poniższe przykłady. The process according to the invention is illustrated by the following examples.
