SPOSÓB WYTWARZANIA IZOMERYZOWANEGO OLEJU ROŚLINNEGOMETHOD OF MAKING ISOMERIZED VEGETABLE OIL
The subject of the invention is a method for the production of isomerized vegetable oil, intended especially for the production of paints and varnishes. From the PRL patent description No. 112 506 a method of isomerization of oil with a catalyst suspended in it at a temperature of up to 553 ° K is known. The catalyst is passed co-current with compressed inert gas or superheated steam through a displacement member or a series of displacement members built into the interior of the reactor and immersed in the oil. The isomerization process takes from several to several dozen hours depending on the process temperature. German Patent Specification No. 21 55 727 discloses a method of isomerization of unsaturated fatty acid esters and polyhydric alcohols. The isomerization process is carried out in a heated liquid phase reactor in the presence of aprotic solvents in the presence of an alkoxide as a catalyst, dosed into the reaction medium at a temperature of 273 to 405 ° K under an inert gas atmosphere. In the given method, alcoholates of the following metals are used: Na, K, Ca, Mg, Zn, Al with monohydric alcohols with a carbon amount from 1 to 12, preferably from 1 to 6. The catalyst in the form of a powder is introduced into the reaction medium in an amount from 0, 1 to 6% by mass in relation to the oil.
Wprowadzanie alkoholanów do środowiska reakcji wywołuje jego przypadkowe rozdrobnienie w mieszaninie rozpuszczalnik-olej i rzutuje na szybkość procesu głów150 101In the method described in German Patent Specification No. 22 50 232 it is recommended as a catalyst potassium methoxide or, when using other alkoxides, converting them into potassium methanolate and carrying out the isomerization process of oils at a temperature of 273-323 K in the presence of 0.8 to 6% by mass of the catalyst. In the presented methods, the isomerization process can be controlled by temperature and amount of catalyst. It turns out that the process itself is very sensitive and is accompanied by side reactions such as polymerization, cyclization and hydrolysis. The alkoxides, and more particularly preferred potassium methoxide, are in the form of a powder which is insoluble in aprotic solvents. The introduction of alkoxides to the reaction medium causes its accidental fragmentation in the solvent-oil mixture and affects the speed of the process.
Udział reakcji ubocznych może byó w procesie pomniejszony przez obniżenie temperatury izomeryzacji lecz wraz z obniżeniem temperatury występuje wtedy również spadek szybkości procesu głównego, a więc wydłużenie czasu jego trwania, co częściowo zmniejsza efekt obniżenia udziału reakcji ubocznych.150 101 and the speed of side processes and their mutual participation. The proportion of side reactions may be reduced in the process by lowering the isomerization temperature, but as the temperature is lowered, the speed of the main process also decreases, and thus its duration is extended, which partially reduces the effect of lowering the proportion of side reactions.
Celem wynalazku było takie poprowadzenie procesu izomeryzacji olejów roślinnych aby otrzymany produkt posiadał dobre właściwości a szczególnie jasną barwę i był przydatny w technologii farb i lakierów. Stwierdzono nieoczekiwanie, że można otrzymać jasny zizomeryzowany olej w czasie trzy do czterokrotnie krótszym w porównaniu do czasu prowadzenia procesu według znanych metod. Można zatem tak poprowadzić proces aby przede wszystkim zmniejszyć reakcje uboczne. The aim of the invention was to carry out the process of isomerization of vegetable oils in such a way that the obtained product had good properties, especially a light color, and was useful in the technology of paints and varnishes. It has surprisingly been found that it is possible to obtain a pale isomerized oil in three to four times less time compared to the known methods. Therefore, the process can be conducted in such a way as to primarily reduce side reactions.
The vegetable oil isomerization process according to the invention is carried out at a temperature of 273 to 405 K in an inert gas atmosphere in a solution of an aprotic solvent used in an amount of 30 to 900 percent by weight and in the presence of a catalyst used in an amount of 0.1 to 6 percent by weight with respect to the oil. The catalysts used are metal alkoxides such as Na, K, Ca, Mg, Zn, Al with monohydric alcohols with a carbon number of 1 to 12, preferably methanol, ethanol, propanol, butanediol, pentanol or hexanol.
According to the invention, a powder-like catalyst is used in a slurry of partially or completely obtained aprotic solvent. The catalyst suspension in an aprotic solvent, obtained by the action of ultrasound at a frequency of 21 to 24 kilohertz for 5 to 50 minutes, is metered into the reaction medium. The catalyst slurry is introduced into the reaction medium continuously in co-current or counter-current with the oil. Thanks to the solution according to the invention, the isomerization process is shortened by 4 times and the side reactions are significantly reduced. The resulting light-colored product is suitable for further processing in the paint and varnish industry. The solution according to the invention is illustrated in the following examples.
Przykład I.
