Abstract

The appts. consists of a cylindrical vessel contg. in its base a variable speed propeller to stir up the prod. to be treated after it has been charged to the vessel, a mixing arm to prevent it balling up and orifices for charging and drying the prod. The appts. incorporates also piping for circulating a fluid to accelerate the drying. The fluid (pref. air or nitrogen) enters the vessel at its base and goes out at its upper part. It may be charged through pieces of sintered metal incorporated in the lower part of the blades of the propeller. The circulation system may include a condenser, a compressor and a heater and the vessel may be surrounded by a jacket for heating or cooling. The presence of the fluid allows the product stirred up by the propeller to be maintained in suspension so that the product is brought into contact in the best possible conditions with the walls and the bottom of the vessel raised to the temp. of evapn. of the water or solvent contd. in the product.
