Abstract

[Problem] To propose a device that forms uniformly-sized raw pellets, preventing unevenly-sized, weakly-bound, coarse pellets from being produced during pelletizing. [Solution] This invention is provided with the following: an agitator/lump-breaker that evenly disperses iron-ore fines and moisture throughout a sinter-feed mixture being processed; a first measuring instrument that samples the sinter-feed mixture that has been processed by the agitator/lump-breaker and obtains the grain-size distribution and the moisture distribution thereof; a pelletizer that, with moisture added, agitates and thereby mixes the sinter-feed mixture that has been processed by the agitator/lump-breaker, thereby pelletizing same, and supplies lime powder and coke dust from the tail end thereof so as to coat the surfaces of the sinter-feed pellets with said lime powder and coke dust; and a second measuring instrument that samples the coated pelletized sinter feed and obtains the grain-size distribution and the moisture distribution thereof. Agitation conditions for the agitator/lump-breaker, whether or not to add water in the agitator/lump-breaker, and the amount of moisture to add in the pelletizer are controlled on the basis of the grain-size distribution and moisture distribution obtained by the first measuring instrument and the grain-size distribution and moisture distribution obtained by the second measuring instrument.
