Abstract
Se describe un metodo para producir vidrio usando fundicion por combustion sumergida. El metodo incluye la introduccion de un material de alimentacion vitrificable (30) en una masa de vidrio fundido (22) contenido dentro de un fundidor de combustion sumergido (10). La masa de vidrio fundido contenida en el fundidor tiene una relacion redox definida como una relacion de Fe2+ al hierro total en la masa de vidrio fundido. El metodo incluye ademas quemar una mezcla de gases combustibles (G) suministrada a cada uno de los quemadores sumergidos (62) para producir productos de combustion (68) y descargar los productos de combustion directamente en la masa de vidrio fundido. Aun mas, el metodo incluye ajustar la relacion redox de la masa de vidrio fundido controlando una o mas condiciones operativas del fundidor de combustion sumergida seleccionado de (1) una relacion de oxigeno a combustible de la mezcla de gas combustible suministrada a cada uno de los quemadores sumergidos, (2) un tiempo de residencia de la masa de vidrio fundido y (3) un flujo de gas a traves de la masa de vidrio fundido.
