Abstract
Apparatus for supporting a ceiling support beam over a floor support beam (20) of a prefabricated modular building unit is disclosed. The apparatus includes an upper support (93) configured to be coupled to the ceiling support beam and a lower support (91) configured to be coupled to the floor support beam. A column (8) extends between the upper support and the lower support which is height adjustable. A tension rod (86) that connects to the lower support holds the column in compression between the upper support and the lower support in use. After construction the column is removed from the pre-fabricated modular building unit by releasing the tension and removing the rod.
