Abstract
A sealing material comprises a bitumen-impregnated polyetherpolyurethane foam. The bitumen is present at greater than 225 kg/m3. The foam can be an open cellular foam each cell of which is coated with bitumen. The sealing material can further be coated on its exterior surface with an acrylic emulsion composition and/or coloured to coordinate with the exterior colour of the surface to which the sealing material is applied. The sealing material is manufactured by first saturating the foam with the bitumen and then removing the excess the bitumen for the saturated foam. The excess bitumen can be removed by passing the foam, which has been dipped in bitumen, between multiple rollers to squeeze any excess bitumen from the foam. The method of sealing an overlap between two adjacent surfaces with the sealing material comprises inserting into the overlap the sealing material.
