Abstract

A fractionation tray contains perforations 6 covered by covers 3. The cover is supported by legs 1, 2. The leg that is at the upstream end of the cover is at least 5% wider than the maximum transverse dimension of the cover. The upstream leg may be longer than the downstream leg so that the top of the cover is sloping. There may be an aperture formed in the top surface of the cover, the aperture directing gas flow horizontally in the downstream direction.
