Abstract

Kon- struksjonene og fremgangsmåtene som her er beskrevet er spesielt egnet for å fremstille tuftet, bred vevd teppe med forbedret abrasjonsmotstand.BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION The present invention relates to carpet and methods of making carpet, in one aspect the blanket (a) comprises a primary backing material having a front and back surface, (b) a large number of fibers which are attached to the primary backing material and extend from the front of the primary backing material and being exposed to the backing surface of the primary backing material, (c) an adhesive backing material, (d) any secondary backing material adjacent to the adhesive backing material, and (e) at least one homogeneously branched ethylene polymer. The method comprises extrusion coating of at least one homogeneously branched ethylene polymer on the back surface of a primary backing material to provide an adhesive backing material. The method may comprise additional steps or procedures, either separately or in different combinations. Additional steps and procedures include washing or cleaning the primary backing material and the fibers prior to the extrusion step and the use of explosives. The preferred homogeneously branched ethylene polymer is a substantially linear ethylene polymer. The designs and methods described herein are particularly suitable for making tufted, woven rugs with improved abrasion resistance.
