For å hindre uønsket skumdannelse ved papirfremstilling anvendes det tilberedninger inneholdende a) fettsyrelaverealkylestere, b) hydrofoberte kieselsyrer og c) silikonforbindelser, som avskummere ved papirfremstilling. Blandingene er frie for amidforbindelser og paraffinhydrokarboner og oppviser i forhold til den kjente teknikk forbedrede egenskaper hva angår avskummervirkning og manglende dannelse av uønskede oljefaser.
