Abstract

Datamaskinsystem for å opprette en modell med semantiske objekter på grunnlag av et eksisterende relasjonsdatabaseskjema. Datamaskinsystemet analyserer kataloginformasjonen i relasjonsdatabaseskjemaet og oppretter et semantisk objekt for hver tabell som er definert i katalogen. For hver kolonne som er definert i en tabell, legges det til en enkeltverdiattributt i det semantiske objektet som er opprettet for tabellen. Systemet analyserer deretter relasjonsinformasjonen som er lagret i katalogen for å opprette objektkjedeat- tributter som definerer relasjoner mellom to eller flere semantiske objekter og for å opprette vektorielle gruppeattributter og vektorielle enkeltverdiattributter. Dersom databasekatalogen ikke inkluderer relasjonsinformasjonen, bes brukeren om å angi semantiske objekter som er relaterte.
