Abstract
The method concerns grain refinement or improvement of metal alloys by continuous delivery of a grain refinement or alloy improvement agent in the form of a wire (18) into the alloy melt (20). For purposes of quick dissolution, the wire before being added to the melt is either melted or heated to a temperature close to its liquidus point, and in such a state is introduced into the melt. Also claimed is an apparatus for implementation of the proposed method.
