Abstract

In this two-stage process for bleaching pulps, the pulp is bleached in a first stage in aliphatic monocarboxylic acids at an elevated temperature and under an elevated pressure, with addition of nitric acid. After washing or extraction with water or with the bleaching solution, a treatment of the pulp with an ozone-containing gas is carried out in the second stage.
