Abstract
En to-veis optisk fiber forsterker (12) egnet til bruk i et dobbelt utmatende fiber-optisk kommunikasjonsledd (10) er herved beskrevet. Forsterkeren (12) ifølge oppfinnelsen er innesluttet i en kappe eller en tjenestesløyfe og er fortrinnsvis koblet mellom første og andre optiske fibersegmenter (18 og 20). Forsterkeren (12) innbefatter en pumpelaser (102) til frem-bringelse av optisk energi med en første bølgelengde. En bølgelengde selektiv optisk kobler (82) i optisk forbindelse med det første fibersegment (18) og pumpelaseren (102) setter sammen optisk energi som forplanter seg gjennom det første fibersegment (80) med den optiske utgang fra pumpelaseren (102). Forsterkeren (12) i foreliggende oppfinnelse innbefatter videre en dopet optisk fiber (114) som er optisk koblet mellom den bølgelengde-selektive optiske kobler (82) og det andre optiske fibersegment (20) for forsterkning av gjennomstrømmende optisk energi innenfor et på forhånd bestemt bølgelengdespektrum. Forsterkeren (12) ifølge oppfinnelsen kan med fordel anvendes i visse fiber-optiske kommunikasjonsledd for å bedre den optiske signalstyrke.
