Abstract

Høyeffekt Er-dopet fiberforsterker/lasersystem innbefattende en optisk kappe-pumpet fiberginerverklaser (10) som stråler ut en utgangsstråle (11) ved en bølgelengde som faller innenfor et absorpsjonsbånd for erbium, Fibergitterverklaserens utgangssu^åle (11) anvendes som pumpekilde for en Er-dopet fiberforsterker eller laser (12), På grunn av at utgangen fra fibergitterverklaseren (10) faller innenfor et av erbiumabsorpsjonsbåndene, kan forsterkeren eller laseren (12) bli direkte pimipet med fibergitterverklaserens utgang uten behov for co-doping. Ved en foreuukket utførelsesform er fibergitterverklaseren (10) en 980 nm >tterbium-dopet fibergitterverklaser som er optisk kappe-pumpet med en multi-transversal modusdiodelaserrekke (22). Den Yb-dopede fibergitterverklaseren (10) og den Er-dopede fiberforsterker/laser (12) er fortriimsvis sammenføyd direkte med en inngang og utgangsarm til en WDM fiberkobler (24), Dette tillater kobling av 980 nm utgangen fra Yb-dopet fibergitterverklaseren (10) med den Er-dopede fiberforsterkeren/laseren (12) via en helfiberbane uten behov for forplantning gjennom luft.
