Disse trinn fører til forurensing av løsningsmidlet og skylle-mediet, og for å befri dem for forurensningene, som er hoved-. I sakelig ikke-flyktige, ledes det forurensede løsningsmiddel og i. skyllemedium til en vanndampdestillasjonsenhet hvor skylle-mediet og løsningsmidlet kodestilleres ved en temperatur over løsningsmidlets flammepunkt. Vanndampdestillasjonen utføres i en brannfare-avgrensningssone hvor oksygen i det vesentlige utelukkes under normal drift av vanndampdestillasjonsenheten ved hjelp av den dannede vann/løsningsmiddel-damp, og under begynnelses- og opphørsfåsene for vanndampdestillasjon ved dannelse av et inert gassformig fluid.
