Abstract

Avfallsvann inneholdende forurensende metallioner fra gruppen omfattende metallene i s,lb, 2b, 4a, 5a eller 6a i den periodiske tabell, samt lantanidemetallene og aktinidemetallene, innbefattende transuranelementer, renses ved å justere pH i den vandige oppløsning til 6,5 - 14,0 og deretter blande vannet med en blanding av et alkali- eller jordalkaliferrat og et vannoppløselig salt, f.eks. et zirkoniumsalt, i en mengde tilstrekkelig til å gi en utfelling i det forurensete vann, hvor mengden av blandingen av ferrat og det vannoppløselige salt er effektiv til å nedsette konsentrasjonen av det foruren- sende metallion, hvoretter utfellingen får separere til å gi en overflytende væske med nedsatt innhold av foruren- sende metallion, hvoretter den overflytende væske med nedsatt innhold av forurensende metallion erholdes.
