En fremgangsmåte og anordning for utsettlngstesting av en optisk fiber (14). Oppfinnelsen involverer fastgjarlngen av en kapsel (12) til et høyhastighets- luftfartøy med en fallskjerm frigjort under flukt for å initiere utsetting. Anordningen Ifølge oppfinnelsen Innbefatter en spole (32) som er montert på et fartøy (12) for å holde en vikling av optisk fiber (14) og en fallskjerm ¿ (18) for anvendelse av luften eller fluldumsstrømmen forbi fartøyet når fartøyet er i bevegelse til å trekke fiberen fra spolen.
