Abstract

Section isolator for electrical contact line sections having a sectioning isolator (18) and a bridging part (20) constructed as a hollow isolator. Said bridging part contains a power circuit breaker (23) which serves for briefly short-circuiting the adjacent sections of the contact line and whose drive (30) is fed by the voltage difference between the contact wire sections. This section isolator is characterised by the fact that the bridging element (20) consists of a hollow cylindrical insulating pipe (26) with closure covers (27, 28) resting in a sealing fashion against both ends and of at least two tie rods (29) which penetrate the closure covers in a sealing fashion and pull towards one another, the tension in each individual tie rod being greater than that acting on the bridging element (20). Apart from the power and its drive in the form of a lifting magnet (30), a locking device (34) which can be actuated by a retaining magnet (33) circuit breaker is contained inside the hollow isolator (20), for locking the power circuit breaker in its switched-on position at least for as long as the lifting magnet is supplied with voltage, also an isolating switch whose switch position can be changed by means of a drive shaft which is led out of the bridging element and can be actuated manually or by motor or electromagnetically.
