Abstract
In this method and device, at the level of a threshold which lies between the minimum and maximum of the occurring received signal amplitude, either the amplitude values of the time slots of the PPM word which lie above this threshold or those lying below it are stored as values in a shift register with parallel outputs and evaluated with the aid of a multiplexer so that all combinations of the signals at the shift register outputs which indicate an incorrect position of the word clock initiate a signal and, following numerical integration of this signal, a phase shift of the word clock is initiated for the duration of a plurality of words. <IMAGE>
