Abstract

The invention relates to an operating lever (1) for a safety switch, over-current circuit breaker or the like, in the form of a two-armed lever. This lever consists of a lever arm (2), external to the housing, which carries an operating handle (3), consisting of a lever arm (4) internal to the housing, which is connected to a drive element for the switch mechanism, can be locked in the switched-off position of the operating lever (1) and is provided with a bearing part (9) for bearing the operating lever (1) such that it can pivot, as well as a joint arranged between the operating handle (3) and the bearing part (9). The axis of the said joint is arranged parallel to the pivoting axis of the operating lever. The joint is blocked in the switched-on direction (8) by a limiting force block whose limiting force is greater than the maximum operating force on the lever arm (2) external to the housing during the switching-on operation of the operating lever (1) and is less than the retaining force on the operating lever (1) in its locked switched-off position produced by the rigidity of the locking and switch mechanism.
