Abstract

In current-limiting low-voltage circuit breakers, the contact arm is prevented from bouncing back after completion of electrodynamic opening by a catch in the partially open position. The catch, in any position depending on the opening forces, is produced by slots, teeth or inclined surfaces fitted to the moving contact arm which interact with a correspondingly designed mating piece fitted rigidly the housing or by depressions or bulges provided in the housing or switch wall which interact with a mating piece in the switching contact arm. The catch is released by the unlocked bolt and the associated movement of the contact arm about a different point of rotation, or by an applied force which is greater than the retaining force. <IMAGE>
