Abstract

A screw cap, especially one made of plastic, for closing a bottle or the like, with a cylindrical threaded section having a female thread to be screwed on the male thread of a bottle-neck, connected to the security ring via break points, on which there are inwardly-directed catches to engage with an outer collar on a bottle-neck. The free edge (14) of the cylindrical part (3) has at least one axial projection (15) which engages positively in a recess (17) in the opposite edge of the security ring (11) in the circumferential direction and releasably in the axial direction. This positive toothing ensures that, when the screw cap is first screwed on the neck of a bottle, the webs (10) are not sheared off by increased torques which can be applied if the catches run on the outer collar of the bottle-neck under tension.

Description

The present invention relates to a screw cap as stated in the introduction to the following patent claim 1.

From DE 41 08 453 A1, a screw cap of this type is known, in which the inwardly directed locking projections are designed in the form of a hook, so that when the screw cap is first screwed onto the external threads of a bottle neck, the locking projections snap past a circumferential outer bead which is arranged on the bottleneck for safety reasons. When unscrewing the screw cap, the hook-shaped locking protrusions retain the safety ring within the outer bead on the bottle neck, so that the fracture points formed by thin steps between the safety ring and the cylindrical part of the screw cap burst, and so that the safety ring remains on the bottle neck. Thus, a guarantee of originality has been achieved, in that after re-screwing the screw cap, the safety ring is held loosely on the bottle neck. Thus, everyone can easily observe that the bottle has already been opened once.

A disadvantage of this known screw cap is that a relatively large torque is required when the hook-shaped locking projections on the safety ring are to be moved past the outer bead on the bottle neck. Due to this high torque, there is a risk that the breaks between the safety ring and the cylindrical part of the screw cap, formed by the thin steps, are already cut off when screwing on, so that the safety ring then sits loosely on the bottle neck, as when the bottle is first opened and then again is closed. The originality of the bottle contents cannot therefore be observed or ensured.

An object of the invention is to arrive at a screw cap of the type in question, whereby the risk of tear-off of the fracture points between the cylindrical part of the screw cap and the safety ring when screwing on for the first time is reduced.

This purpose of the invention is achieved with the characteristic features in patent claim 1.

The basic idea with the indicated features consists in connecting the cylindrical part of the screw cap and the safety ring form-locking in the circumferential direction and releasably with each other in the screw direction. In case of form-locking engagement between the edges of the cylindrical part and the safety ring, large torques can be transferred without mutual turning movement of the two parts, so that there is no danger of the fracture points which in the initial state connect the safety ring to the cylindrical part of the screw cap

With reference to the drawing, the invention will be explained in more detail.

Fig. 1 viser et aksialsnitt gjennom et utførelseseksempel av en skrukapsel i henhold til Fig. 1 shows an axial section through an embodiment of a screw cap according to

oppfinnelsen, sammen med en tilhørende hals på en flaske. the invention, together with a corresponding neck on a bottle.

1. Fig. 2 is an enlarged section II in fig. 1.

Fig. 1 shows a screw cap 1 made of plastic according to an example of an embodiment of the invention. It shows a top 2 and a cylindrical screw part 3, with internal threads 4 for screwing onto external threads 5 of a bottle neck 6, which is only partially shown. Between the top 2 and an end edge 7 of the bottle neck 6 there is a seal 8.

A lower edge 9 of the cylindrical part 3 is connected via a step 10 to a safety ring 11, the inside of which exhibits a locking projection 12, which in the shown, screwed-on state engages within an outer bead 13 on the bottle neck 6.

Fig. 2 viser et utsnitt II i fig. 1. Fig. 2 shows a section II in fig. 1. From this it appears that a lower edge 14 of the cylindrical part 3 exhibits right-angled projections 15, which form-lockingly engage corresponding recesses 16 in the safety ring 11. Between the projections 15 and the bottom of the recesses 16, a space 17 is formed, in which the steps 10 which holds the safety ring 11 on the cylindrical part is arranged.

When screwing on a screw cap 1 for the first time according to fig. 1 causes the protrusions 15 which appear in fig. 2 that the safety ring 11 is brought along without mutual movement when a greater torque occurs, which is the case when the locking protrusions 12 slide onto the outer bead 13 and pass this under tension. In this way, the thin steps 10 are secured against being cut off or torn off during screwing.

The projections 15 only need to lie against the opposite edges of the recesses 16 in the screw-on direction, and not unconditionally in the opposite direction, the unscrewing direction. For example in the area between surfaces 18, 19 and surfaces 20, 21 indicated by dashed lines, the breaking points 22, 23 indicated by hatching can be arranged, and fulfill the same task as the steps 10 which form the breaking points, which can thus be omitted.
