Description

An arrangement for opening and closing a window and
system comprising the arrangement
The invention belongs to the field of window openers, and in particular relates to a home window opening system.
Background technique
There are many types of automatic opening and closing systems for structures such as flat windows, sliding doors, etc.er, which include for example, Electric Casement windows operator, Electric Linear Actuator (Linear Motion Controller), and Electric Chain window opener. Current known automatic windows opening and closing systems are generally too large in appearance, and also quite difficult to arrange and install in a relatively small space. For example, it is known that most of the system occupies around 70% of the window frame, however some systems require the entire window frame. There is also a distinct lack of aesthetics when these structures are present on the doors and windows. Further, the window structure will block the line of sight during work, which also has impacts the living experience of the occupants. All these opening systems, in particular the stepper motor systems, do not close the window tightly.
Further, in some countries, windows are not allowed to be opened completely, and instead, windows are allowed to open only slightly. To avoid opening the window more than an allowed extent, a security lock is provided. The use of stepper or chain motors may damage to the security lock on the windows.
Summary of the invention
The purpose of the present invention is to overcome the shortcomings in the prior art, provide an integrated window opening system and a method of use thereof, and solve the technical problems of occupying a large space and obstructing the line of sight in the prior art. The invention provides a windows opening and closing system that is small size, occupies lesser space, and does not obstruct sight. Figure 1 shows a window that includes the window opening system of the invention that comprises a sash portion 10 and a drive unit 12, which are connected by an elongate member 14. The elongate member 14 is advantageously made of a flexible material, and could be use made of a stainless-steel wire, iron, a rope, a cable or a string, or anything that has the ability to endure a tensile force.
Fig. 2 A is a zoomed view of the sash portion 10 and Fig. 2B shows an exploded view of the sash portion 10 that comprises a housing 16, tensioning means 18 and an elastic member 20. The housing 16 is held in place using one or more guidance members 22 shown in Fig. 2A. In exemplary embodiments, the housing 16 is a pipe provided with inner threads (not shown), the tensioning means 18 is a screw for engaging with the inner threads of the pipe and the elastic member is a compression spring.
Fig. 3 shows an exploded view of the drive unit 12 that comprises a shaft 24. The drive unit 12 further comprises a motor 26 that includes a power source and a switch (not shown in Fig. 3). The shaft 24 is configured to be rotatable in a first direction and a second direction. A pulley 28 is arranged on and rotatable together with the shaft. The shaft 24 and pulley 28 are allowed to rotate about their axis on a track 30 that keeps them in place. In Fig. 4, the arrangement combination of the sash portion 10, the drive unit 12 and the elongate member 14 is shown wherein the elongate member 14 comprises a first end that is connected to the pulley 28 as shown in figure 4 and a second, free end is connected to the window sash portion (not shown), so that when the shaft 24 is rotated in the first direction, the elongate member 14 is wound onto the pulley 28, and when the shaft 24 is rotated in the second direction, the elongate member is wound off the pulley 28.
The arrangement further comprises at least one pushing mechanism (not shown) that is mounted in connection with the window sash. The pushing mechanism comprises an elastic member (not shown) for pushing the window into an open position when the elongate member 14 is wound off the pulley such that the compressible member is in a extended state.
The elongate member 14 close the window at the same time while closing window the elongate member 14 such that the compressible member is in a compressed state. The tensioning means 18 is in its expanded state when the window is open, but when the window is closed, the tensioning means is in its compressed position. The window can be opened due to the extension of the tensioning means. In contrast, when we close the window, the elongate winding is turned in the opposite direction to accomplish both the closing of the window and the restoration of the spring to its compressed state.
In order to further facilitate the installation, the pushing mechanism further comprises a housing for the elastic member and a tensioning means arranged in the housing for pushing against the elastic member in a fixed position for pretensioning of the elastic member as shown in Fig. 5.
The spring directly pushes the window to open that does not require the use of any additional tools. When the window is closed, the spring is in the compressed phase. When the window needs to be opened, the motor will move the pulley in the direction that will allow the cable to be released. At the same time, the spring begins to decompress, allowing the wire to remain taut and not relaxed while the window is being raised.
For closing the window, motor is configured to rotate in the opposite direction of the previous command, causing the wire to be pulled around the pulley. In this situation, the wire will draw the window closed, compressing the spring and bringing it back to its original compressed state of operation.
It will be understood by one of ordinary skill in the art that the motor can be controlled electronically through commands issued through suitable means, which may include for example, keypad, a software that is run on a suitable operating system, and so on.
Another object of the invention is to provide a system comprising the arrangement as described herein, wherein it further comprises a controller for turning on and off the power supply for the drive unit.
The system of the invention further comprises sensors, a Wi-Fi channel controller, and a software or an application run on a suitable operating system. The sensors give signals to the computer, and the software in the computer determines whether the window should be opened or closed, wherein the computer controls the motor through a wireless network controller.
Any sensor is envisioned to be encompassed within the scope of the invention. Exemplary sensors include gas sensors. Particularly useful sensors are the sensors that monitor carbon dioxide (C02), sensors that measure wind, sensors that measure outdoor temperature, sensors that detect rain, and the like, and combinations thereof. Thus, the input from one or more sensors can be used in conjunction with the windows opening and closing system of the invention based on a predetermined value from the one or more sensors. In one exemplary use case, the sensor is a C02 sensor inside a room, and when the measured C02 levels inside the room goes beyond a certain limit, the system is programmed to open the window until it falls below the threshold level. In another exemplary use case, the sensor is an outdoor temperature sensor, and when the outside temperature falls below a predetermined limit, the window is automatically closed. In yet another exemplary use case, sensors include outdoor temperature and indoor light sensor, and when the temperature rises above a predetermined level, and/or the indoor light rises above a predetermined level, the window is automatically opened. More such combinations and use cases scenarios will become obvious to one of ordinary skill in the art, and is encompassed to be within the scope of the invention. The windows opening system of the invention can also be easily disengaged from the window in a facile manner. Thus, in case of an emergency situation such as a power failure, the window opening system of the invention can be disengaged very quickly and easily, and can then be engaged again upon resumption of the power supply.
The present invention is not limited to the above-mentioned embodiments. On the basis of the technical solutions disclosed in the present invention, those skilled in the art can make some substitutions and replacements for some of the technical features without creative work based on the disclosed technical content. Deviations from and replacements thereof are all within the scope of protection of the present invention.
