Abstract
Oppfinnelsen omhandler et system for å finne riktig vannivå i rulledempingstanker i skip. Systemet omfatter belyste rulledempningstanker med kameraovervåking. Ved å få kameraovervåking av rulledempingstankene vil man se hvordan bølgen går i tanken og man kan justere vannivået til bølgen går i motfase til skipets bevegelse.The invention relates to a system for finding the correct water level in roll cushioning tanks in ships. Rulledempningstanker. Roll damping tanks.
Rulledempningstanker omtales som et passivt system for rulledempning. Min påstand er at det er et dynamisk system som må justeres etter hva som er av stabilitet/ trim i fartøyet, i tillegg til bølgefrekvens. Dette er i dag umulig, spesielt på store fartøy med flere rulledempingstanker. Det å stå om bord i så store fartøy og skulle kjenne på båten når tid disse tankene er riktig justert og "synkronisert" er ikke bare vanskelig men nærmest umulig. I stabilitetspapirene til skip med rulledempingstanker er der oppgitt 1 eller 2 kondisjoner med oppgitt mengde for fylling av disse tankene. Dette er ikke å regne for annet enn eksempler og det kan hende at eksempelet vil virke i praksis i nevnte kondisjon men i alle andre kondisjoner vil den i beste fall virke dårligere og i verste fall mot sin hensikt. Vi har meg bekjent i dag ikke noe system for kontinuerlig overvåking av slike tanker for å utnytte rulledempingstankenes muligheter maksimalt. Dette gjør at det i stor grad brukes feil væskenivå på disse. Dette utgjør etter mitt skjønn en sikkerhetsrisiko for mannskaper, da skip vil slingre mer. Det utgjør en risiko for skade på skipet og en risiko for skade på last. Det kan i ytterste konsekvens få katastrofale /fatale følger for skip og mannskap . Roll damping tanks are referred to as a passive roll damping system. As far as I know, we currently have no system for continuous monitoring of such tanks in order to make maximum use of the roll damping tanks' capabilities. This means that the wrong fluid level is largely used on these. In my opinion, this poses a safety risk for crews, as ships will wobble more. It poses a risk of damage to the ship and a risk of damage to cargo. In the extreme, this can have catastrophic/fatal consequences for the ship and crew.

Også i forhold til at man har flere rulledempningstanker blir det svært enkelt å "synkronisere" tankene slik at man utnytter kraften i fri væskeoverflate momentet maksimalt.
