Abstract
Et amfibiekjøretøy for gjennomfart i dype eller grunne vann og/eller den fulle rekkevidden av våtmark og tørre bakkemiljøer, består av en bokslignende struktur med flytende belter som har fremdrift for å bevege strukturen omkring. De flytende beltene kretser om kjøretøyets lengde, og strekker seg lateralt i en vesentlig del av kjøretøyets bredde. Når det opererer i vann, vil de flytende beltene gi hoveddelen av oppdriften som holder den bokslignende strukturen over vannoverflaten eller dens belter kan bli tømt for å senke fartøyet. Amfibiekjøretøyet kan transportere tung utstyr og personell fra skip plassert til sjøs, over uutviklede strender til posisjoner på land.
