Den foreliggende oppfinnelse vedrører lagringsstabile vandige oppløsninger av optisk hvitemiddel/PVOH med lav viskositet som kan anvendes direkte av papirmakeren ved at de kan doseres ved å pumpe direkte inn i en bestrykningssammensetning, og som tilveiebringer bestrøket papir med en overraskende høy hvithet.
