Oppfinnelsen vedrører anvendelse av et dupleksstål for fremstilling av et armeringslag til et fleksibelt rør innbefattende minst et ikke-bundet armeringslag (5) og minst et ikke-bundet forseglingslag, hvor dupleksstålet innbefatter i masse-% 0,01 til 0,5 masse-% karbon (C), minst 0,15 masse-% nitrogen (N), 20,0-23,0 masse-% krom (Cr), opp til 3,0 masse-% nikkel (Ni), opp til 1,0 masse-% molybden (Mo), 3-6 masse-% mangan (Mn), opp til 1,0 masse-% kobber (Cu) tilfeldige urenheter og resten er jem (Fe). Oppfinnelsen vedrører også et fleksibelt rør innbefattende minst et ikke-bundet armeringslag og minst et ikke-bundet forseglingslag hvor det minst ene armeringslaget til det fleksible røret er av dette dupleksstålet.
