Abstract

Batterilevetiden i bærbare underholdningsanordninger som spiller av musikk- eller videofiler med fast lengde (f.eks. MP3 musikkfiler) økes ved adaptivt å justere hastigheten til en prosessor i anordningen slik at kun et minimum antall MIPS blir utført for å spille av musikk- eller videofilene. En reduksjon av prosessorklokkens frekvens gir betydelige strømbesparelser. Et bruksprofil som inneholder det nødvendige antall MIPS for hver sang kan være lagret på anordningen, eller bruksprofil-informasjon kan være satt inn i datastrømmen eller innlemmet i datafilene.
