Abstract

En fremgangsmåte for å forandre en kanal i et ttådløst lokalt nettverk (WLAN) for å lindre opphopning og høye interferensnivåer, der WLAN har et aksesspunkt (AP) og i det minste en stasjon, begynner med å bestemme en liste over kandidatkanaler. En kanal ble valgt fra kandidatlisten og blir evaluert mot forhåndsbestemte kriterier. Dersom den valgte kanalen møter de forhåndsbestemte kriteriene, da vil alle stasjonene som kommuniserer med AP'en bli dissassosiert, og AP'en blir forandret til den valgte kanalen. Dersom den valgte kanalen ikke møter de forhåndsbestemte kriteriene, da vil den valgte kanalen bli fjemet fra kandidatlisten, og valgtrinnet blir gjentatt dersom det er tilleggskandidatkanaler.
