Abstract

I henhold til den foreliggende oppfinnelse er en landbasert kabelstasjon tilveiebragt for et undervanns, optisk transmisjonssystem. Kabelstasjonen innbefatter undervanns linjeterrninalutstyr (SLTE) for å behandle terrestrisk trafikk som mottas fra en ekstern kilde, effektmatingsutstyr for å levere elektrisk kraft til aktiv undervannskomponenter i transmisjonssystemet, et element administreringssystem for å utfonne og oppnå statusinformasjon fra transmisjonssystemet, og en kabeltermineringsboks i hvilken en undervannskabel termineres. Nevnte SLTE innbefatter terrestrisk, optisk transmisjonsutstyr som mottar den terrestriske trafikk og genererer optiske signaler som reaksjon på denne. Nevnte SLTE innbefatter også en grensesnittanordning som tilveiebringer signalbehandling på de optiske signaler mottatt fra det terrestriske, optiske transmisjonsutstyr, slik at de optiske signaler er passende for transmisjon gjennom nevnte undervanns, optiske transmisjonssystem.
