Abstract

The invention relates to the automatic optical detection of the abrasion of the contact wires of overhead lines (10) by optically imaging the contact wire (10) in a line camera (21,22). The inventive device is placed on a vehicle in a location which is different from that of the pantograph. Based on the rule of Scheimpflug, a correction occurs, whereby special correction measures are provided and applied in order to fine focus the imaging despite the varying heights of the contact wire (10).
