Abstract
Datakommunikasjon mellom to innretninger (11, 12) over det offentlige kraftledningsnettverk (13) bruker en multibærefrekvensteknologi hvor en kommunikasjonskanal oppdeles til flere underkanaler ved hjelp av frekvensdelt multipleksing. En deleffekt som del av den totale overføringseffekt og en delhastighet som brøkdel av den totale datahastighet tildeles hver underkanal slik: Innledningsvis tildeles samme deleffekt hver underkanal og S/N-forholdet i hver underkanal oppnås. Ved å begynne med den underkanal med lavest S/N-forhold og fortsette mot den som har høyest S/N-forhold, utføres følgende trinn for hver underkanal: For det første tildeles delhastigheten i samsvar med det respektive S/N-forhold slik at det oppnås en bestemt overføringsfeilfrekvens. Den tildelte delhastighet blir så kvantisert til en integral verdi. Hvis kvantiseringen tilsvarer en avrunding nedover, blir den først tildelte deleffekt redusert, slik at overføringsfeilfrekvensen forblir den samme som før kvantiseringen. Videre økes deleffekten i de andre underkanaler med høyere S/N-forhold, slik at summen av alle deleffektene forblir konstant. Til slutt blir det økte S/N-forhold som kommer fra økningen av deleffekten for disse underkanalene, beregnet slik at, når nærværende trinn utføres for disse, kan en optimal delhastighet tildeles dem.Denne fremgangsmåte maksimerer den totale hastighet i hele kommunikasjonskanalen, samtidig som feilfrekvensen i hver underkanal og summen av alle deleffektene holdes konstant.
