Abstract
Method for heat treatment of a wearable work tool (20, 36), in particular a plow blade (20) having a leading edge portion (22) which is subjected to wear during plowing, and a fastening area (23) having fastening holes (24 ) spaced apart, via which the insert can be mounted on a saddle, the treatment comprising the steps of: heating the entire insert to a sufficient extent, followed by rapid cooling, thereby hardening the insert and providing a necessary level of wear resistance in the leading edge area ( 22); and then performing site-limited tempering of at least the areas surrounding the mounting holes (24) in the mounting area (23), on both sides of the insert, to remove at least some of the brittleness that may be present in such areas, and which is caused by the initial hardening step of abrasion resistance, and thereby improving the resistance in such areas to possible formation of stress fractures under load.
