Description
The present invention relates to a device for a liquid absorbent body with spacers for: use in boxes for shipping moisture-releasing products, as stated in the introduction to the following independent claim 1.
Liquid absorbents are known from Norwegian patent application no. 830621 which consist of a particle-shaped material with a gel-forming substance added and enclosed in a sleeve that allows liquid to pass through and where spacers are arranged inside the sleeve, preferably in the form of spherical elements. The liquid absorbent is intended for use in a box with a loose inner base with drainage openings for liquid and where the liquid absorbent is placed between the inner base and the bottom of the box. When storing and transporting moisture-releasing products, the moisture will drain through the mentioned inner base and into the liquid-absorbing body, which absorbs the liquid and prevents it from flowing further. Said spacers are arranged to prevent the compression of the liquid absorbent and thus the squeezing out of the collected moisture.
Instead of using spacers embedded in the liquid absorbent itself, it is also known to attach the absorbent in the form of a cloth or sleeve, to spacer strips at two opposite long sides of the absorbent cloth and possibly also a spacer piece at the middle part of the absorbent cloth to support the loose inner bottom as well as prevent compression of the absorbent body.
When manufacturing and storing the above-mentioned absorbent bodies with spacers, the absorbent bodies will require a large storage space when they are stacked on top of each other, as the height of such a stack will be a multiple of the height of the spacers.
Ved kjente væskeabsorbenter er f.eks. avstandsorganet 3 cm høyt, hvilket vil si at 50 absorbentlegemer lagt oppå hverandre vil bygge minst 3 cm x 50 = 150 cm. In the case of known liquid absorbents, e.g. the spacer 3 cm high, which means that 50 absorbent bodies placed on top of each other will build at least 3 cm x 50 = 150 cm.
The thus known absorbent bodies for use in conventional transport systems for moisture-releasing goods are all characterized by the fact that they take up far too much space during transport from producer to user and in storage at both producer and user.
The purpose of the present invention is to avoid the above-mentioned disadvantages of the known absorbent bodies and to provide an absorbent body with spacers that take up a minimum of space during stacking on each other during storage and transport, whereby transport and storage costs are brought down to a minimum for the customer. In addition, the present invention seeks to provide an absorbent body in which raw material costs and production costs are reduced to a minimum in order to produce a more competitive product.
This objective has been achieved according to the present invention by means of the characteristic features which appear from the characteristics of the subsequent independent claim 1 as well as from the subsequent non-independent claims.
With the special construction of the spacers specified in claim 1, it is possible that the absorbent bodies can be stacked on top of each other with the spacers stacked in each other, during transport to and in storage at the customer.
Based on today's shipping costs, this solution will result in a shipping saving of $92 and an improved warehouse volume utilization of 75 0%. That is to say, in the same volume that one currently stores 40 pieces of absorbent bodies of the type mentioned at the outset, it will be possible to store 300 pieces of the absorbent body with spacers according to the present invention.
Because the absorbent bodies take up so little space in terms of shipping and handling, these can be exported all over the world without the shipping costs having a devastating effect on the product. That is to say, the absorbent body with spacers can be produced in one place and spread and used over a significant part of the world where there is a need for this liquid absorbent.
The liquid absorbent body with spacers according to the present invention will be described in more detail below with reference to the embodiments thereof shown in the drawing.

figur 4 viser stabl ing av væskeabsorbentlegemer med avstandsorganer stablet i hverandre, og figure 4 shows the stacking of liquid absorbent bodies with spacers stacked in each other, and
figur 5 viser plassering av væskeabsorbentlegemet i en kasse under en løs bæreflate med dreneringsåpninger, hvorpå det fuktavgivende produkt, f.eks. fisk sammen med knust is, anbringes. figure 5 shows placement of the liquid absorbent body in a box under a loose support surface with drainage openings, on which the moisture-releasing product, e.g. fish together with crushed ice, are placed.
Figure 5 shows how a liquid absorbent body 1 with spacers 2 is placed in a box A for shipping moisture-releasing products B, where the spacers 2 of the absorbent body 1 support a product support surface C with drainage openings D to maintain a space E between the bottom of the box F and the product support surface C. This prevents compression of the absorbent body 1, which consists of a liquid-permeable cloth or sleeve containing extensive liquid-absorbing material. The cloth la is connected to the spacers 2 at its two opposite edges lb.lc.
Avstandsorganene 2 som 1 den ;yiste The spacers 2, as shown in figure 1, consist of mutually stackable bodies 2 attached to the two opposite long sides lb , 1c of the cloth la. The spacers 2 as 1 the ;yiste
utførelsesform utgjøres av oppad åpne hullegemer med nedad konvergerende sider, er plassert slik at de stablebare avstandsorganer 2 på en duk la flukter med de stablebare avstandsorganer 2 på hosliggende duker la for plassbesparende stabling i hverandre ved lagring og transport av et flertall absorbentlegemer 1 som vist 1 figur 4. embodiment consists of upwardly open hollow bodies with downwardly converging sides, are placed so that the stackable spacers 2 on a cloth la align with the stackable spacers 2 on adjacent cloths la for space-saving stacking in each other when storing and transporting a plurality of absorbent bodies 1 as shown 1 figure 4.
In Figure 2, the stackable spacers 2 are shown in the form of an elongate trough-shaped body 2a with two walls 2b, 2c which diverge from the bottom 2e of the trough 2a and where one 2c of said walls is connected to the fabric's la edge lb resp. lc. This connection is achieved by the fact that one gutter wall 2c has an outward-facing flange 2d to which the fabric's la edge lb resp. lc is attached, e.g. by foundation or in another appropriate way.
With this solution, it is assumed that the channel-shaped body 2a is made of a relatively rigid material which resists the load from the overlying inner bottom 1 with the inserted product B without deformation or flattening of the channel-shaped body 2a.
In order to produce the trough-shaped body 2a from a relatively thin material, e.g. a rigid plastic film, the side walls 2b, 2c of the chute 2a can be provided with inlets/outlets 3,4 for bracing the chute walls 2b, 2c, whereby the chute body 2a, despite the use of thin plastic film material, becomes able to support the product bearing surface C.
When using thin plastic foil material or similar material, in the channel-shaped spacer bodies 2a, the channel bodies 2a will build smaller when stacked in each other than the building height of the absorbent bodies la, the absorbent bodies la being thicker than the material thickness of said channels 2a.
In certain cases, it may be relevant to arrange at least one channel-shaped body 2a.' between the trough-shaped bodies 2a at the two opposite edges lb.lc of the cloth and as indicated in figure 2, with a phantom line. This achieves that the 1 box A overlying product support surface C gets an extra support so that the product support surface C with products does not curve downwards towards the bottom of the box A. This applies in particular if the trough-shaped bodies 2a are placed at the two opposite short side edges ld,le of the cloth la the span of the product bearing surface C between said short sides will be greater than the free span that occurs when the channel-shaped bodies 2a are placed at the two opposite long side edges lb.lc of the cloth la as shown with solid lines in Figure 2.
In order to achieve the intended space-saving stacking of a plurality of absorbent bodies 1 according to the invention when said intermediate trough-shaped body 2a' is used, the cloth must be attached only to one wall 2b or 2c of the trough-shaped body 2a'. By stacking the absorbent bodies 1 on top of each other, it is thereby achieved that the fabric la under the stack slides over the top of the second wall 2c or 2b of the channel-shaped body 2a' so that the fabric la is shaped according to the cross-section of the channel-shaped body 2a', whereby the use of intermediate, channel-shaped distance bodies 2a', do not cause increased stacking height. A prerequisite for such stacking is, of course, as previously mentioned, that the channel-shaped body 2a has side walls 2b, 2c which diverge from the bottom 2e of the channel 2a.
By placing three channel-shaped spacers 2a, 2a and 2a' across the cloth 1a as indicated in figure 2 with phantom lines, the cost of the absorbent body is further reduced by reducing the consumption of channel-shaped spacers 2a. An example of this is as follows: The inner bottom dimensions of box A are 80 x 40 cm and the cloth la has the same dimensions. When using longitudinal channel-shaped spacers 2a which are hereafter referred to as strips in the example, 2 x 80 cm - 160 cm strips are used. When using transverse slats, namely one at each end of the cloth and a middle slat, 3 x 40 cm = 120 cm slats are consumed.
40 cm of slat is thus saved while achieving a better solution because the transverse slat in the middle of the cloth supports the product bearing surface at its middle part and, as mentioned before, reduces its storage span.
To ensure longitudinal control of the trough-shaped stacking bodies 2a during stacking, these are equipped with end walls 2f which diverge upwards from the bottom 2e of the stacking body 2a.
