Description
Fremgangsmåte til fremstilling av svoveltrioksyd.
Ved fremstilling av svovelsyre ifølge kontaktfremgangsimåten forbrennes teknisk frembrakt svoveldioksyd i blanding med overskytende luft på katalysatorer, f: eks. vanadinpentoksyd-kiselgur-katalysa-tor ved egnet temperatur. Først når kata-lysatoren har en bestemt minstetempera-tur, den såkalte starttemperatur, som ved enhver teknisk katalysatormasse alt etter sammensetning og fremstillingsmåte kan ha forskjellig verdi (f. eks. 450° C), inntrer reaksjonen.
Ved gassens gjennom katalysatormas-sen . inntrer oppvarmingen proporsjonal med omsetningsgraden. Ved en bestemt temperatur, avhengig av gassens begynnel-sessammensetnmg, f. eks. ved 580° C stop-per reaksjonen, fordi da svoveltrioksydets dannelseshastighet er nøyaktig like stor som spaltningshastigheten. For i denne katalysatordel å oppnå en størst mulig omsetning, må man holde temperaturinter-vaillet størst mulig, dvs. man vil holde be-" gynnelsestemperaturen så lav som mulig, det vil igjen sl man velger den ovenfor definerte begynnelsestemperatur soim gass-inntredelsestemperatur. Etter det første trinn blir den varme gassblanding på egnet måte, f. eks. ved varmeutveksling eller ved direkte eller in-direkte avkjøling, igjen avkjølt til start-temperaturen, hvorpå den føres gjennom en annen katalysatordel, idet det igjen inntrer oppvarmning. Da det imidlertid allerede er til stede meget S03 som hemmer bk-sydasjonen, oppnås maksimaltemperaturen nå meget tidligere, f. eks. ved 500° C. Etter gjennomgangen gjennom denne annen kontaktdel avkjøles igjen til starttempe-raturen og det føres gjennom en tredje, eventuelt etter gjentatt avkjøling gjennom en fjerde osv. kontaktdel. Herunder videre-drives hver gang oksydasjonen og således teoretisk inntil en omsetningsgrad som er bestemt av temperaturen til den gass som trer ut fra den siste katalysatordel, og gassens begynnelsessammensetning. . Det er kjent at den katalyttiske omsetning av S02 til S03 kan fore-Las i flere etterhverandre kobiede katalysatorskikt under direkte avkjøling av reaksjonsgas-sene, og at denne avkjøling kan foregå ved innblåsing av kolde røstgasser i den innretning som er beskrevet i tysk patent nr. 966 833.
Det er videre kjent og fremgår av massevirkningsloven at man kommer til høyere
omsetning når man befrir den allerede delvis omsatte gass før inntreden i en ytterligere katalysatordel for den inntil da dan-nede svoveltrioksyd, f. eks. ved vasking med svovelsyre. Dette forslag er allerede inngå-ende forklart i. Handbuch der Schwefel-såurefabrikation av Bruno Waeser, III. bind
(1930), sidene 1492—1495, og nærmere forklart med talleksempler. Når på tross av
den overordentlige interesse for en nedsettelse av S02-innholdet i avgassene fra den S03-frembringende industris og indu-stritilsyns ansattes side, denne tankegang som teoretisk måtte føre til en nedsettelse
av S02-konsentrasjonen til under 0,05 % SO, i avgassen, ennu iklke er utnyttet tecire-
tisk, så skyldes dette tydeligvis at ved dens gjennomføring avkjøles noen varme gasser som oppstår i katalysens første del ved be-handling med relativt kald svovelsyre til dennes temperatur og deretter igjen må oppvarmes til kontaktmassens starttemperatur for gjennomføring av den annen ka-talyse. Dette varmebehov kan riktignok aritmetisk dekkes ved oksydasjonsvarmen av S02 til SO,,, som imidlertid er gjennom-ført storforsøik viste, er teknisk opprett-holdelsen av de nødvendige temperaturer overordentlig vanskelig, på grunn av de store varmeutvekslingsflater og de uunngå-elige utstrålingstap.
Gjenstand for foreliggende oppfinnelse er en fremgangsmåte til fremstilling av S03 ved kontaktfremgangsmåten i flere trinn under innkobling av mellomobsorb-sjon, hvor gassresten som blir tilbake etter helt eller delvis fjernelse av den i den forreste del av systemet fremstilte SO.,, omsettes i en ytterligere katalysatorovnsdel, og fremgangsmåten er karakterisert ved at temperaturen i denne holdes 40—60° C under den starttemperatur som vanligvis må være tilstede for igangsetting av den katalyttiske oksydasjon av S02 til SO.,. I motsetning til tidligere forestillinger og er-faringer ble det nemlig funnet at gassen som ble befridd for SO., som var dannet i fortrinnene, overraskende ble oksydert videre allerede ved temperaturer som ligger betraktelig under den ventede minstetem-peratur, dvs. den ovenfor definerte starttemperatur. Dette faktum lar seg ikke ut-lede av den fysikalske kjemis kjente lover. En teoretisk begrunnelse for dette forhold kan ennu ikke gis.
Det betyr ved siden av den tekniske forenkling blant annet en betydelig senk-ning av anleggsomkostningene til økono-misk tålbare størrelser, og åpner dessuten den mulighet å foreta det annet oksyda-sjonstrinn i temperaturområder som på grunn av massevirkningsloven tillater en høyere omsetningsgrad.
Eksempel: I en teknisk frembragt til starttem-peraturen på 450—460° C forvarmet røste-gass med 9,3 % SO, ble det omsatt i en flere trinns kiselgur-V20.--kontaktovn S02 til ca. 85—90 % SO.,. Av denne gassblanding ble ved innledning i en absorbs j onsanordning av vanlig byggetype det totale SOa utvasket med svovelsyre. Den til 60—80° C avkjølte gassrest ble oppvarmet ved hjelp av en varmeutvekslef og det ble i motsetning til den, før det første trinn nødvendige for-varmning til 450—460° C bare foretatt en oppvarmning til 390—410° C. Med denne temperatur ble gassen ledet inn i en annen katalysatorovn som bare behøvde å bestå av ett lag. Den totale omsetning utgjorde etter gjennomgangen gjennom den annen katalysatorovndel 99,6—99,8 % av det opp-rinnelige tilstdeværende svoveldioksyd.
