Description

Avgassbrenner.
Denne oppfinnelse vedrører en avgassbrenner omfattende et forbrenningskammer med innløp og avløp for innkobling av forbrenningskammeret i en avgassledning og med innløp for inntak av primær- og sekundærluft i forbrenningskammeret, samt et i forbrenningskammeret anordnet katalyserende materiale for kontinuerlig antennelse av brennbare bestanddeler i de tilførte avgasser.
Oppfinnelsens hovedformål er å skaffe en avgassbrenner som kan virke kontinuerlig uten spesiell varmekilde og uten at der oppstår tilstopping som følge av faste partikler som følger med av-gassene, og som kan fremstilles med små omkostninger for å mulig-gjøre en omfattende anvendelse, såsom i motorkjøretøyer.
Det særegne ved oppfinnelsen er en gjennombrutt turbulator som er anordnet i forbrenningskammeret i avstand fra innløpet for blandingen av luft og avgasser og som omfatter en mot innløpet rettet, ringformet, konkav vegg, og en i dennes midtdel anordnet nese som er rettet mot innløpet, samt en annen, motstående, ringformet, konkav vegg anordnet foran avgassinnløpet og konsentrisk omsluttende dette for dannelse av et ovalt formet forbrenningskammer, mellom hvis konkave endevegger gassen hvirvler frem og tilbake , og et etter den første, gjennombrutte turbulator anordnet etterforbrenningskammer, til hvilket gassene suksessivt strømmer inn gjennom den gjennombrutte turbulator.
For en bedre forståelse vil oppfinnelsen i det følgende bli beskrevet mere detaljert under henvisning til tegningene, hvor fig. 1 er et aksialsnitt av avgassbrenneren ifølge oppfinnelsen bestemt for bruk ved motorkjøretøyer og fig. 2 viser et snitt etter linjen 2 - 2 i fig.
Den på tegningen viste utførelse omfatter en stålplate-boks 24 som danner forbrenningskammeret og har en katalyserende keramisk foring 2 5 eventuelt med en katalysator inkorporert i samme. En nese 26 er anbragt i en platemetallboks 28 som er aksialt inn-stillbar og kan fastholdes i innstilt stilling, f.eks. ved hjelp
av en skrue 27; denne boks 28 har en ring- og koppformet vegg 29 med en åpning 30 og danner en etterforbrenningssone 31, med hvilken en utløpsledning 32 er forbundet. Foringen 25 er tilgjengelig for gass i etterforbrenningssonen 31 gjennom hull 28' i boksens 28 man-tel. Til den annen endevegg 33 av boksen 24 er der festet en sy-linder 34 med en flens 35 for å forbinde sylinderen med motorens manifold 36. En skillevegg 37 mellom et avgassinnløpsrør 38 og sylinderen 34 deler sylinderen i to kammere 39 og 40, av hvilke kammeret 39 er forbundet med en sugeluftledning 41 som eventuelt
er utstyrt med en luftrenser; kammeret 40 er over en trykkluftled-ning 42 forbundet med en luftpumpe 43 som kan drives fra motorens aksel over en rem. To rør 44 og 45 er ført gjennom endeveggen 33 og danner sammen med røret 38 to kanaler som hver har en halvring-formet åpning 46 og 47 som fører til kamrene 39 hhv. 40. Røret 44 bærer en ring 48 som hindrer baktenning og består av en tynn
vegg av varmemotstand8dyktig metalltrådnetting med katalysatormateriale påført samme, eller av et tykkere legeme 49 av samme materiale som delene 25 og 26, eller av steatitt belagt eller dék-
ket med katalysatormateriale på en innad vendende overflate. Rørene 38, 44 og 45 kan være innbyrdes understøttet ved hjelp av aksiale ribber eller vinger 50. En gløde- eller gnistplugg 51 er anordnet i forbrenningskammerets vegg.
Ved den beskrevne utførelse av oppfinnelsen blandes av-gassen fra forbrenningsmotoren med den i forbrenningskammeret inn-førte luft og den resulterende brennbare blanding antennes til å begynne med, dvs. når motoren og åom følge derav forbrenningskammeret er kalt, ved hjelp av tennelementet (gnist- eller glødeplug-gen). Etter at forbrenning har begynt og den keramiske katalysator er blitt opphetet til den temperatur som kreves for å bevirke at forbrenningen fortsetter av seg selv under virkningen av kata-lysatoren, som kan være i en glødende tilstand, kan tennelementet frakobles. Som allerede angitt kan dette element kobles inn ved hjelp av bilens tenningsnøkkel for å bli utkoblet av et tidsrelé eller en lignende anordning en viss tid etter at det ble koblet inn. Tennelementet kan imidlertid også kobles inn og ut av en termostat som avføler temperaturen i forbrenningskammeret.
Forbrenningen i forbrenningskammeret gjennomføres ved en torusflamme rundt turbulatorens nese på den side av samme som ven-der mot avgasstrømmen. Strømmen av gassene i forbrenningskammeret er angitt ved pilen på fig. /. En viss etterforbrenning foregår ved den viste utførelse etter at de brennende gasser har passert gjennom turbulatorens åpninger, i etterforbrenningssonen mellom turbulatoren og utløpet.
Den beskrevne avgassbrenner er også anvendelig i forbin-delse med kull- eller oljefyrte ovner, såsom dampkjeler, i hvilket tilfelle tennelementet kan utelates.
Ikke bare avgasser fra forbrenningsmotorenes sylindre, men også karbonoksyd- eller hydrokarbonmettede gasser fra deres veivkasser kan tilføres forbrenningskammeret for avgasser.
For å tilveiebringe den nødvendige turbulens i forbrenningskammeret kan avgassinnløpet anordnes tangentialt i et sylin-drisk forbrenningskammer med et aksialt utløp for at luft og gass skal passere gjennom forbrenningskammeret under roterende bevegel-se på samme måte som i et syklonapparat og stryke over katalysa-toren som er anordnet som en foring i kammeret. I andre modifiser-te utførelser av oppfinnelsen kan forbrenningskammeret ha annen tverrsnittsform enn den sirkulære, f.eks. rektangulær.

  1. Avgassbrenner, omfattende et forbrenningskammer med inn-løp og avløp for innkobling av forbrenningskammeret i en avgassledning og med innløp for inntak av primær- og sekundærluft i forbrenningskammeret, samt et i forbrenningskammeret anordnet katalyserende materiale for kontinuerlig antennelse av brennbare bestanddeler i de tilførte avgasser, karakterisert ved en gjennombrutt turbulator (26) som er anordnet i forbrenningskammeret i avstand fra innløpet (44, 45, 38) for blandingen av luft og avgasser og som omfatter en mot innløpet rettet, ringformet, konkav vegg (29), og en i dennes midtdel anordnet nese (26) som er rettet mot innløpet, samt en annen, motstående, ringformet, konkav vegg (48) anordnet foran avgassinnløpet og konsentrisk omsluttende dette for dannelse av et ovalt formet forbrenningskammer, mellom hvis konkave endevegger gassen hvirvler frem og tilbake, og et etter den første, gjennombrutte turbulator anordnet etterforbrenningskammer (31), til hvilket gassene suksessivt strømmer inn gjennom den gjennombrutte turbulator.
