Smørefett.
Denne oppfinnelse omhandler et smørefett.
I henhold til oppfinnelsen tilveiebringes et smørefett omfattende en basis-smøreolje som kan omfatte en organosubstituert silikonvæske, en kolloidalt dispergert, belagt leire for for-
tykning av basis-smøreoljen til smørefettkonsistens, hvilken leire har sure overflater og er dekket med et aminoamid dannet ved reaksjon mellom en hovedsakelig mettet CD fettsyre og et polyetylenpolyamin; natriumsebacat, og et fenyl-naftylamin. Smøre-fettet karakteriseres ved at smøreoljen inneholder minst 30 vektprosent, basert på oljen, av en diester av azelainsyre eller sebacinsyre, eller en blanding derav, og en monoalkyl-substituert primær alkohol.
Fra svensk patent nr. 183.720 er det kjent smørefett inneholdende smøreolje og leire. Patentets eksempler angår smøre-fett basert på en mineralolje, men det er angitt generelt i beskrivelsen at syntetiske smøremidler, for eksempel silikon osv., eller blandinger derav kan anvendes. I eksemplene A og B i patentet er basisoljen således en 100 % mineralolje. "Mean Hertz Load" (MHL) er for eksempel for smørefett B 30. Hvis 5vektprosent molybdendisulfid settes til smørefett B, blirMHL48. Det er overraskende at smørefettene i henhold til oppfinnelsen, selv uten en ekstremt trykktilsetning, har bedre MHL-verdier enn smørefettene i henhold til det svenske patent som inneholder en ekstremt trykk-tilsetning. Som angitt nedenfor i tabell III,
har smørefettene K, L og M i henhold til oppfinnelsen en MHL-verdi på henholdsvis 53, 57 og 59.
Som man vil legge merke til senere i beskrivelsen harsmørefettet fremragende kraftbærene og lagerslitasje karakteristika over et stort temperaturområde uten å trenge nærvær av kostbare ekstremt trykk (EP) tilsetninger.
Den smørende basisolje kan velges overensstemmende med de betingelser hvorunder smørefettet skal anvendes. Således vil ved anvendelse under høy temperatur de fleste mineraloljer være stabile opp til temperaturer på> >omtrent 150°C (300°F) , og syntetiske estere kan brukes ved temperaturer opp til omtrent 180-205°C.
For anvendelse ved temperaturer over ca. 205°C kan den smørende basisolje omfatte en organo-silikon væske eller halogen-karbonforbindelser. Eksempler på slike halogen-karbonforbindelser finnes i U.S. patent nr. 2,679.479. Halogen-karbonforbindelsehe omfatter spesielt fluorkarbonoljer, fortrinnsvis slike som de-stillerer over omkring 200°C ved atmosfæretrykk.
Hvis smørefettet skal brukes ved meget lave temperaturer, må den smørende basisolje velges ut fra hensynet til dens reologiske egenskaper ved lav temperatur. De fleste petroleum smør-ende basisoljer er altfor viskøse til å kunne brukes ved lav temperatur, og de må erstattes med andre materialer som har gode reologiske egenskaper ved lav temperatur, for eksempel syntetiske smøreoljer. Man kan således velge syntetiske smøreoljer for å
gi et smørefett som tilfredsstiller følgende krav:

Vridningsmoment, lav temperatur/gang 500 gem maks Enda strengere krav kan imidlertid komme til å bli krevet, hvis smørefettet skal brukes ved temperaturer så lave som -73°C.
En gruppe av foretrukne syntetiske smøreoljer som kan anvendes i smørefettet, omfatter organisk-substituerte tilikon-væsker (vesentlig polysiloksanoljer) som har smøreoljeviskositet. Eksempler på slike væsker er følgende ureaktive og varmestabile silikonvæsker:
Metyl silikon væsker
hvori n er 0 eller et helt tall Metylfenyl silikon væsker og/eller
Metyl fenyl silikon væsker foretrekkes på grunn av deres større varmestabilitet. I alle væskene kan andre organiske grupper eller uorganiske atomer stå i stedet for noen av metylgruppene; for eksempel kan noen av metylgruppene erstattes av alkylgrupper eller hydrogen, eller halogenatomer. Erstatningen vil imidlertid avhenge av smørefettets anvendelse.
En annen foretrukken gruppe av syntetiske smøreoljer omfatter pentaerytritol-estere av mettede fettsyrer. Noen typiske egenskaper hos disse estrene er:
Når smørefettet skal brukes enten ved ekstremt lave eller høye temperaturbetingelser, vil tilstedeværelsen av minst 30vektprosent av en diester av azelain eller sebasinsyre, eller en blanding av dem, med en alifatisk enverdig alkohol sammen med, for eksempel, en av de to foretrukne grupper av syntetiske smør-ende basisoljer i høy grad forbedre smørefettets virkning, for eksempel ved de ekstreme temperaturer -75°C eller 95°C. I til-felle polysiloksan væsker omfatter den smørende basisolje fortrinnsvis 70-90 vektprosent (særlig minst 80, for eksempel omkring 85 vektprosent) beregnet av diesteroljen. Hvis den smørende basisolje inneholder en pentaerytritol ester av en mettet fettsyre, omfatter den smørende basisolje fortrinnsvis av 30 til 50 vektprosent (særlig minst 40 vektprosent) beregnet av diesteroljen.
Leirene for oppfinnelsens formål kan ha en høy evne til å bytte ut base, fortrinnsvis fra omkring 60 til omkring 100 milli-ekvivalenter utbyttelig base pr. 100 gram leire.
Eksempler på slike leirer er montmorilloniter, spesielt natrium, kalium, litium eller andre bentoniter, for eksempel Wyoming-bentonit, magnesiumbentonit (hectorit) og saponit. Leiren behandles fortrinnsvis for å ta bort den største del av gangart som normalt er tilblandet den. Dette kan gjøres ved å disper-gere den rå leire i vann, og la den skilles i fraksjoner som kan separeres fra hverandre enten ved tyngdens virkning eller ved high-speed sentrifugering. Leiren danner en hydrosol med vann, hvori der fortrinnsvis er 1 til 5 vektprosent leire som gir et system som er relativt lettflytende og lett å transportere, for eksempel ved pumping.
For å gjøre leirens overflate sur, behandles leiren fortrinnsvis i den nettopp nevnte hydrosolform. Behandlingen bør foretaes med en mineralsyre (fortrinnsvis en fosforholdig syre, for eksempel fosforsyre) i en mengde som i det minste er lik base-utbyttelighetskapasiteten for leiren. Når fosforsyre anvendes, vil denne syre i alminnelighet ble brukt i en mengde på fra omkring 4 til omkring 12 vektprosent beregnet av leiren. Leiren dekkes for trinnsvis med 45 til 70 vektprosent aminoamid beregnet av vekten av tørr leire.
Aminoamidet tilsettes fortrinnsvis til den syrede leire-hydrosol under slike betingelser at aminoamidet er flytende.
Aminoamidet er en viskøs væske når den er friskt laget, men forandrer seg når den står til en bløt granulær pasta som er lett å håndtere. Aminoamidet kan fremstilles ved å opphete fettsyren med et polyetylen polyamin ved en temperatur på 200° til 225°C i 1 til 4 timer. Fettsyren er hensiktsmessig i form av C8-18fettsvrer hvorav minst 80 vektprosent er mettede fettsyrer,
og har fortrinnsvis jodtall under 50. Kokosnøttolje-fettsyrer foretrekkes. Polyetylenpolyamin kan bli omtrent 40 % amidert. For eksempel aminoamidet kan dannes med 35 til 45 % av det aktive nitrogenmateriale. Polyetylenpolyaminet er hensiktsmessig rest-produktet fra fra fremstillingen av etylendiamin. Slikt restprodukt består vanligvis av en blanding av etylen aminer som koker overtrietylentetraminets kokepunkt (for eksempel tetraetylenpentamin)fortynnet med en mindre mengde dietylentriamin så det får en passe-lig lav viskositet for hensiktsmessig behandling. Denne polyaminblanding kan også inneholde meget små mengder (for eksempel 5 % eller under) av etylendiamin. Noen egenskaper hso en slik polyaminblanding er:
Blandingen av polyaminer kan bestå av 20 til 80 (fortrinnsvis mindre enn 50) % dietylentriamin, resten er polyetylen-polyaminer som har en gjennomsnittlig molekylvekt på 2 20 til 450.
Smørefettet ifølge oppfinnelsen inneholder fortrinnsvis 0,75 - 1,25 vektprosent antriumsebasat, og fortrinnsvis 0,75 - 1,25 vektprosent fenylnaftylamin (særlig B-fenylnaftylamin), begge prosentangivelser regnet av vekten av smørefett. Smøre-fettet kan også inneholde andre antioksydasjonsmidler enn fenyl-naftylamin, for eksempel fenotiazin eller difenylamin.
Oppfinnelsen skal nå illustreres ved følgende eksempler.
Eksempel 1.
Den fremgangsmåte som ble brukt for hvert enkelt smøre-fett var som følger. En 2 % vandig suspensjon av Hectorite leire befriet for gangart ble opphetet til 70°C. Til den varme suspensjon ble tilsatt fortynnet fosforsyre, aminoamid vannavstøtnings- middel (belegg) og basisoljen. Efter fullstendig blanding av disse komponenter, ble det dannet "klumper" eller "perler" sam-tidig med at det skilte seg av en vannfase. Klumpene ble skilt fra det utskilte vannet og oppvarmet til 130°C, da ble det lang-somt tilsatt en vannløsning av enten natriumnitrit eller natrium-sebasat. Efter å ha holdt blandingen ved 130°C i omtrent 15 minutter, var vanninnholdet forminsket en del ved fordampning. Fenylnaftylamin ble tilsatt den varme blanding. Blandingen ble så kjølet og malt for å fremstille det endelige smørefett.
Smørefettene E, F og G ble fremstilt efter fremgangs-måten beskrevet i foregående avsnitt, og testet overensstemmende med Military Specification MIL-G-7118 A "Grease; Aircraft and Actuator Screw, for Low and High Temperatures".
Sammensetningen av smørefettene finnes i tabell i.
Testresultatene for disse smørefettene er i tabell II sammenlignet med forskjellige spesifikasjoner "MIL-C-7118A testen".
De foregående resultater viser klart at smørefettene
E, F, G har helt igjennom fremragende prestasjonskarakteristika, og, i særdeleshet, utmerkede høy- og lav-temperatur-egenskaper. Det er likeledes tydelig at smørefettene E og F kan brukes over hele området fra -75 til + 180°C under vanskelige lagersmørefor-hold. Dette har aldri tidligere vært oppnådd.
Eksempel 2
Følgende smørefett ble underkastet "Mean Hertz Load" test (i henhold til følgende liste) for å sammenligne evnen til å tåle belastning hos såpebasissmørefettene (med og uten EP-tilsetninger) og smørefett efter oppfinnelsen uten bruk av noen EP-tilsetning: <
Smørefett H: En litium-såpe-fortykket smørefett inneholdende di-2-etylheksylsebasat som basisolje med ingen EP-tilsetning. Smørefett I: Likeledes en litium-såpe-fortykket smørefett identisk med sammensetningen av smørefett H, med unntak av at (1) den inneholdt 0,22 vektprosent metalldeaktiveringstilsetning istedenfor 0,02 vektprosent, og (2) den inneholdt 5 vektprosent av en klorsvovel EP-tilsetning (klornaftaxantater).
Smørefett J; Identisk i sammensetning med EP såpebasis smørefett I, med unntagelse av at den smørende basisolje var endret til å være den samme som smørefett E (tabell III).
Smørefett K; Identisk i sammensetning og fremstillingsmåte med smørefettene E og L, men inneholdende den samme basisolje (di-2-etylheksylsebasat) som smørefettene H og I, istedenfor blandingen av di-2-etylheksylazelat og pentaerytritolester.
Smørefett L: Identisk i sammensetning og fremstillingsmåte med smørefett E (tabell III) .
Smørefett M: Identisk i sammensetning og fremstillingsmåte med smørefett F (tabell III).
"Mean Hertz Load test" referer seg til metode 6503, Federal Test Method Standard No. 791a. I denne test som er en modifikasjon av "Shell Four-Ball EP test", kjører man en serie på 20 ti-sekunders prøver med stadig høyere belastning inntil en fastskjæring av de fire kulene finner sted. Den gjennomsnittlige diameter efter slitasje bestemmes for hver av de 20 nevnte prøver. Man anvender en korreksjonsfaktor for hver belastning for å ta hensyn til den statiske søkkdarinelse som skyldes deformeringen av kulene på grunn av belastningen ved starten av testen. Den
korrigerte belastning er bestemt av føl<0>gende formel:
Summen av de 20 korrigerte belastninger divideres med 20 for å få "Mean Hertz Load". Den laveste belastning hvorved en markert økning i slitasjen finner sted kalles "det første gripepunkt" og det angir den belastning hvorved fastskjæring først forekommer. Det er av stor betydning fordi det angir den belastning hvorved smørefettet ikke lenger yter fullstendig smøring.

III.
I tillegg til Mean HertzLoad testene, ble smørefettene H, I, L og M også underkastet "Screw-Jack Actuator Test (CRC be-tegnelse L-44) som gir et mål for spesielt høy belastbarhet. Denne tests hensikt er å studere evnen til å tåle belastning hos forskjellig sammensatte smørefett og tilsetninger for særlig høye trykk i en snekkeoverføring ved -34 til +200°C. Apparatet består av en toppskrue som arbeider i en bronse-mutter hvortil det er festet passelige vekter. Det er forsynt med en ovn for arbeide ved høye temperaturer. For lave temperaturer setter man opp-stillingen i en avkjølet kasse. Normal operasjonsbelastning er 500 kg. Under testen økes og senkes belastningen efter en gitt syklus og det nødvendige dreiningsmoment blir herunder målt. Resultatene av denne test finnes i tabell IV.

Den i det hele fremragende evne til å tåle belastning hos en smørefett efter oppfinnelsen fremgår ved sammenligning av smørefettene K, L og M i henhold til oppfinnelsen med såpebasis smørefettene H, I og J. Sammenligning av smørefettene L og M med grisen K viser fordelen ved å bruke den foretrukne smørende basisolje-sammensetning efter oppfinnelsen.
Det fremgår klart at smørefett i overensstemmelse med oppfinnelsen (for eksempel smørefettene K, L og M) er overmåte overlegne over såpebasis-smørefettene endog om såpebasis-smøre-fettene inneholder betydelige mengder effektive EP-tilsetninger.
Således er smørefettene efter oppfinnelsen enestående på to måter: (1) De viser (uten anvendelse av EP-tilsetninger) bedre evne til å tåle belastning enn tilsvarende såpebasissmørefett og endog
enn mange leirefortykkede smørefett som inneholder spesielle EP-
tilsetninger; og
(2) i Mean Hertz Load-testen er det første gripepunkt i det store og hele det samme som fastskjæringspunktet, sammenlignet med den
store avstand mellom disse verdier for såpebasis-smørefettene.
Disse to fordeler er ganske viktige derved at tap av
metall forut for lagersvikt blir nedsatt til et minimum, hvorved sikres et høyst tilfredsstillende arbeide hos lageret gjennom et maksimalt tidsrom, uten at man får en lang tid hvor lageret arbeid-
er mer eller mindre slett.
Claims (9)
1. Smørefett omfattende en basis-smøreolje som kan omfatte en organosubstituert silikonvæske, en kolloidalt dispergert, be-
lagt leire for fortykning av basis-smøreoljen til smørefett-kon-sistens, hvilken leire har sure overflater og er dekket med et
aminoamid dannet ved reaksjon mellom en hovedsakelig mettet CQb—zO
fettsyre og et polyetylenpolyamin; natriumsebacat, og et fenyl-naftylamin, karakterisert ved at smøreoljen inne-
holder minst 30 vektprosent, basert på oljen, av en diester av
azelainsyre eller sebacinsyre, eller en blanding derav, og en
monoalkyl-substituert primær alkohol.
2. Smørefett som angitt i krav 1,
karakterisert ved at det i basis-smøreoljen er 70 til 90 vektprosent, basert på oljen, av diesteren.
3. Smørefett som angitt i krav 2,
karakterisert ved at det i basis-smøreoljen er
minst 80 vektprosent, basert på oljen, av diesteren.
4. Smørefett som angitt i krav 1,
karakterisert ved at basis-smøreoljen omfatter en pentaerytritol-ester av en mettet fettsyre.
5. Smørefett som angitt i krav 4,
karakterisert ved at det i basis-smøreoljen er 30 til 50 vektprosent, basert på oljen, av diesteren.
6. Smørefett som angitt i krav 5,
karakterisert ved at det i basis-smøreoljen er minst 40 vektprosent, basert på oljen, av diesteren.
7. Smørefett som angitt i et av kravene 1 til 6, karakterisert ved at diesteren i basis-smøreoljen er avledet fra en monoalkyl-substituert, primær alkohol med 5 til 8 karbonatomer.
8. Smørefett som angitt i krav 7, karakterisert ved at diesteren i basis-smøreoljen er avledet fra en mono-C^-C^ alkyl-substituert butanol.
9. Smørefett som angitt i krav 8, karakterisert ved at diesteren i basis-smøreoljen er avledet fra 2-etylheksanol.
