Abstract

Short Title: Parasol

The invention relates to a parasol, consisting of a hollow upright with a foot, a rod placed in the upright, a folding screen fabric, first ribs for tensioning the screen fabric, which ribs are hingedly connected to the top of the rod, and second ribs for supporting the first ribs, which second ribs are hinged at one end to a ring fitted around the rod.

Such umbrellas are generally known and are mainly used on terraces and in gardens. In the known parasol, the ring or crown, to which the second ribs are hinged, is displaced relative to the rod. When the ring is shifted upwards, the second ribs push the first ribs upwards from a more or less vertical position to a more horizontal position. The screen cloth is thereby stretched and creates a shadow in which the user can sit. The bar is slid into the upright and secured at a certain height. After use, the rod can then be removed from the upright again.

A drawback of these existing parasols is that the underside of the screen cloth does not remain at the same height when the folded state is adjusted to the unfolded position, which is difficult for the user.

This has to bend over to open the parasol and feel for the ring to slide up. Another drawback is that the rod with screen cloth has to be taken out of the upright for storage in order to prevent the rod with the screen cloth from being taken by others. The object of the invention is a parasol, in which the underside of the screen cloth remains at approximately the same height both in the unfolded and in the folded position.

This object is achieved with a parasol according to the invention, in that the ring is fixedly attached to the outside of the upright by means of fasteners, and that the rod can be displaced relative to the hollow upright and can be fixed by means of adjusting means on a desired height. This measure ensures that the underside of the screen cloth, both in the unfolded and folded state, is at approximately the same height. Because the ring is attached to the upright, the rod does not have to be removed from the upright together with the screen cloth.

In a preferred embodiment of the parasol according to the invention, the upright consists of a hollow profile, and the rod within the upright is kept at a distance from the upright by means of spacers and the rod can be moved within the upright by means of guide means. . As a result, the rod does not collide with the inside of the upright when sliding, which makes sliding easier. This also allows the rod to be positioned coaxially within the upright.

The guide means preferably consist of a recess in the profile of the hollow upright, which recess co-operates with a recess in the profile of the rod. Figure 1 shows a parasol 1 according to the invention. The parasol 1 consists of a hollow post 2 with a weighted base 3. A rod 4 is slid into the hollow post 2. A screen cloth 5 is attached to the top end of the rod 4. At the bottom of the screen cloth, first ribs 6 run from the upper end of the rod 4 to the circumference of the screen cloth 5. In figure 1, the first ribs 6 are shown by dotted lines. The first ribs 6 are hingedly connected to an upper crown 7 at the upper end of the rod 4. A ring or crown 8 is attached to the upright 2. Figure 3 shows a cross-section of the upright 2 with the rod 4 therein. The upright 2 is provided with spacers 11 on the inside, whereby the rod 4 is placed concentrically in the upright 2. The rod 4 is formed with a recess 12, which cooperates with a recess 13 in the circumference of the upright 2.
