Abstract
Description
Titel: Nestbare houder of krat, alsmede werkwijze voor het nesten en stapelen van een aantal van deze houders of kratten. fTitle: Nestable container or crate, and method for nesting and stacking some of these containers or crates. f
The invention relates to a nestable container or crate with support members movable between an active and a retracted position, with which containers can optionally be stacked or nested, more particularly according to the preamble of claim 1. The invention also relates to a method for nesting and stacking such containers or crates.
(zoals bijvoorbeeld volgens FR-A-2.527*172).These known crates, as described for example in DE-AI.95I.O53, can be nested in a space-saving manner, while stacking filled crates, whereby the bottom of a subsequent crate rests on a support part at the top edge of the crate below, they can directly support each other via the support members, so that the contents of the crates remain unloaded. Because the support members are movable between an active position and a retracted position, a mutually alternating alignment of the crates is not necessary during nesting or stacking, such as with crates of another known type which are stackable in the rectified position and can be nestled in opposite directions. (as for example according to FR-A-2.527 * 172).
A drawback of this known crate is that the support members have to be operated in order to bring them into and out of the active position. This necessary operation is usually done by hand. Owing to the often small dimensions of the support members and the difficult access thereof, operation thereof is difficult. Adjusting the position of the support bodies is also not reliable. In addition, it is necessary to determine the position of the support members prior to nesting or stacking, in order to carry out a position change necessary for the situation in question, depending on the position observed. Because the stacking and nesting is usually performed manually and quickly, it will be clear that many mistakes are made. Such errors lead to unnecessary product damage when the support members are folded out so that they are nested instead of stacked, while conversely, the space savings are insufficiently utilized when the support members are folded out so that they are stacked instead of nested.
The non-prepublished Dutch patent application 9201031 of the applicant describes an optionally nestable or stackable crate, wherein the supporting members can be moved between an active and a retracted position by the action of gravity. The crates can be stacked on top of each other in the active position. The position of the crate upright or upside down determines the position in which the support members are located. When the crate is placed upside down, i.e. with the bottom thereof facing away from the ground, the supporting members are in the retracted position, and the crates thus oriented are nestable. For this purpose, the support members are freely pivotable, and the center of gravity of each support member is positioned in a special manner relative to the hinge line.
The object of the invention is to improve a nestable and stackable crate of the known type such that nesting and stacking can optionally be carried out reliably, quickly and in a simple manner. To this end, it is ensured that the supporting members are freely movable in a guide slot or groove, the longitudinal direction of which is oriented perpendicular to the longitudinal direction of said supporting members, and is oriented such that the supporting members are movable transversely of the longitudinal direction thereof between the first position in which they permit stacking and the second position in which they enable nesting, the longitudinal direction of said guide slot including an angle with the vertical. Under the influence of gravity, due to the orientation of the guide slot, a support member will automatically move into the active and retracted position, depending on the vertical orientation of the crate. As a result, the support members are always in the same position during handling with the holders in the same position, so that it is no longer necessary to check that position and it is also always known in advance which actions must be performed, which actions are the same in each case. The stacking or nesting can hereby take place quickly and efficiently, whereby only the position of the holder as a whole needs to be determined. As a result, it is sufficient to turn over the crate or container when nesting on stacking, which is a simple and reliable operation.
In containers with this feature, the method according to the invention can be applied, whereby a container is successively taken from a stack of containers, inverted, in that position taken on a previous one from that stack and inverted container is placed, after which a subsequent container is picked up from that stack and also gets reversed and so on.
The invention is now further elucidated on the basis of a non-limiting example with reference to the attached drawings.

Fig. 3 een detail van fig. 2 van de linker helft.Fig. 3 is a detail of fig. 2 of the left half.
1 getoonde stand gedwongen.Fig. 1 shows a container 1 or crate with a bottom 2 and two pairs of opposed walls 3. 4. spaced from the bottom 2. A supporting member 5, here a straight, round bar, runs along each of the pair of walls 4. Thereby this support member 5 protrudes freely at the ends into guide grooves 6, which are recessed in the walls 3 · As shown, each guide groove 6 is at an angle of substantially 45 ° with respect to the vertical (perpendicular to the flat bottom 2, when placed on a flat surface). Because the rod 5 protrudes into the groove 6 with ample play, its free movement is sufficiently ensured even in case of contamination. Due to the inclined position of the groove 6, the support member 5 with the holder 1 placed on the ground with the bottom 2 is automatically forced by gravity into the position shown in Fig. 1.
In the left half in Fig. 2, and in Fig. 3 in detail, the situation is shown in which two containers according to the invention are stacked on top of each other. Thereby the holder 1 'with the bottom 2' rests on the support members 5 of the holder 1. The elongate support member 5 is a round rod. With the edge 8 'of the holder 1' placed on the holder 1, the holder 1 * rests in a substantially displacement-free manner on the holder 1 below it. This guarantees a good stacking of the holders. As can be seen in Fig. 3, the support member 5 can move freely between the first position shown by solid lines and the second position shown by dotted lines. In the first position, the support member 5 rests on projections 13 from the walls 4, which leave spaces in the longitudinal direction of the wall 4. This largely prevents bending of the rod 5. The cast-on edge 14 surrounds the walls 4 and also serves as a wall fence.
The right half of Fig. 2 shows the situation where the container 1 'is nested in the container 1. The support member 5 of the holder 1 is for this purpose in the second position, as indicated and as shown by dotted lines in fig. 3. In this position, the bottom 2 'of the holder 1' can pass freely the support member 5.
As can be seen clearly from the detail of fig. 3, with holder 1 placed on the ground with the bottom 2, the supporting member 5 will be automatically forced under the action of gravity to the first position shown by f lines, with the ends moving freely in the grooves 6. When the holder is turned upside down, i.e. with the bottom facing away from the ground, the supporting member 5 is forced by gravity to the position shown by dotted lines. Due to the free guidance, the support member will reliably assume the first position with an upright holder and the second position with an inverted holder. The stacking of the holders as shown on the left in Fig. 2 then takes place with holders held upright; nesting as shown on the right in fig. 2 is easiest with holders turned upside down. After nesting, the entire stack can be turned over again, so that after removal, a container is immediately ready for filling and then stacking.
However, reversing is not absolutely necessary. After all, the support member 5 can also be moved and held from the first position to the second position. Nesting requires more attention. Optionally, an operating member for the supporting member 5 can be provided for this purpose on the outside of the holder 5. Nesting and stacking is then still simplified, because it is known that with the holder held upright the support member 5 always occupies the first position. In that case, the longitudinal direction of the groove can even be aligned horizontally, in order to manually select one of its two positions.
The reverse situation with respect to the one described above is of course also possible, wherein in the upright position of the holder the support member always assumes the second position. For this purpose, the inclination position of the groove 6 can be chosen opposite to that of Figs. 1-3. However, when stacking, it is then always necessary to hold the support member in the first position with a container as shown here, because in the inverted position it naturally loses its contents.
Furthermore, a different shape can also be chosen for the support member. This can for instance be plate-shaped and elongated. However, for reliable free guidance, a cross-sectional round bar shape is preferred so that it can "roll" into groove 6. A plate-shaped support 5 can optionally be made in round cross-section, round ends which project into the grooves 6.
Obviously, the groove need not be straight as shown in FIGS. 1-3. An arc-shaped or, for example, right-angled groove can also be used. Is it important that the support bodies? are incorporated in a guide such that they are freely movable under the influence of gravity along that guide between an active position and a retracted position. Optionally, the member 5 can be movable in the groove 6 against the action of a biasing means, for example a spring.
