Abstract
Description
Title: Nestable container or crate, and method for nesting and stacking some of these containers or crates.
The invention relates to a nestable container or crate with folding support members with which the nesting of a container placed on the container can be consciously allowed or prevented, more particularly according to the preamble of claim 1. The invention also relates to a method for nesting and stacking of such containers or crates.
These known crates can be nested in a space-saving manner, while when stacked filled crates are stacked on top of each other, they can directly support each other via the supporting members, so that the contents of the crates remain unloaded. Because the support members are foldable, a mutually alternating alignment of the crates is not necessary during nesting or stacking, such as with crates of another known type that can be stacked in the rectified position and nest in the opposite direction.
A drawback of this known crate is that the support members have to be operated in order to bring them into and out of the active position. Owing to the often small dimensions of the support members and the difficult access thereof, operation thereof is difficult. Adjusting the position of the support bodies is also not reliable. In addition, it is necessary to determine the position of the support members prior to nesting or stacking, in order to carry out a position change necessary for the situation in question, depending on the position observed. Because the stacking and nesting is usually performed manually and quickly, it will be clear that many mistakes are made. Such errors lead to unnecessary product damage when the support members are folded out so that they are nested instead. stacked, while conversely the space saving is insufficiently utilized when the support members are folded out so that they are stacked instead of. nested.
The object of the invention is to improve a nestable and stackable crate of the known type such that nesting and stacking can optionally be carried out reliably, quickly and in a simple manner. To this end, it is ensured that the support members are freely hinged between the first position in which they permit stacking and the second position in which they enable nesting, and that the hinge lines of the support members are positioned such that in a particular position of the container for the supporting members is one of the said positions the stable equilibrium position. As a result, the support members are always in the same position during handling, while the holders are at the same position. so that it is no longer necessary to check that position and it is also always known in advance which actions must be performed, which actions are always the same. The stacking or nesting can hereby take place quickly and efficiently, whereby only the position of the holder as a whole needs to be determined.
The support members are preferably designed such that in one position of the holder for the support members the first position and in the reverse position of the holder for the support members the second position is the stable equilibrium position. As a result, it is sufficient to reverse the holder when nesting on stacking, which is a simple and reliable operation. In containers with this feature, the method according to the invention can be applied, whereby a container is successively taken from a stack of containers, inverted, placed in that position on a previous one of that stack and inverted container, after which a subsequent container is picked up from that stack and also gets reversed and so on.
Hierbij toont:The invention is now further elucidated on the basis of a non-limiting example with reference to the attached drawings. Hereby shows:

Fig. 3 een detail van fig. 2 van de linker helft.Fig. 3 is a detail of fig. 2 of the left half.
2 en 3·Fig. 1 shows a container 1 or crate with a bottom 2 and two pairs of opposing walls 3. which are spaced from the bottom 2. A support member 5 runs along each of the pair of walls ·. In this case, this support member 5 is suspended in a hinged manner with the aid of a projection 6 on either side of the support member 5. which extends with ample play through a hole in the walls 3. Due to the generous clearance free hinging is also sufficiently ensured in case of contamination. Due to the location of the center of gravity of the support member 5 relative to. the hinge 6, the support member 5 in the holder 1 placed on the ground with the bottom 2 is automatically forced by gravity into the position shown in fig. Each support member 5 is provided with a longitudinal groove 7, while the bottom 2 is provided with an edge 8, the function of which is clearer from Figs. 2 and 3
In the left half in Fig. 2, and in Fig. 3 in detail, the situation is shown in which two containers according to the invention are stacked on top of each other. Thereby the holder 1 'with the bottom 2' rests on the supporting members 5 of the holder 1. The elongated supporting member 5 is substantially Z-shaped in cross section. At the free end of one leg 9 thereof is the hinge 6. At the free end of the other leg 10 thereof is a flange 11, which, together with the body 12, defines the groove 7. This groove 7 receives the edge 8 'of the holder 1' placed on the holder 1. This ensures proper stacking of the containers. As can be seen in Fig. 3, the support member 5 can pivot freely between the first position shown by solid lines and the second position shown by dotted lines. In the first position, the support member 5 rests with the leg 10 on projections 13 from the walls 4. The support member 5 is bounded to the second position by the cast-on edge 14, which surrounds the walls 4 and also serves as wall support.
The right half of Fig. 2 shows the situation where the container 1 'is nested in the container 1. The support member 5 of the holder 1 is for this purpose in the second position, as indicated and as shown by dotted lines in fig. 3. In this position, the bottom 2 'of the holder 1' can pass freely the support member 5.
As is clear from the detail of Fig. 3, in the case of container 1 placed on the ground with the bottom 2, the weight distribution of the support member 5 relative to. the hinge 6 automatically forces this supporting member 5 to the first position shown by solid lines under the action of gravity. When the holder is turned upside down, i.e. with the bottom facing away from the ground, the support member 5 is forced by gravity to the position shown by dotted lines. Due to the free hinging, the support member will reliably assume the first position with an upright holder and the second position with an inverted holder. The stacking of the holders as shown on the left in Fig. 2 then takes place with holders held upright; nesting as shown on the right in fig. 2 is easiest with holders turned upside down. After nesting, the entire stack can be turned over again, so that after removal, a container is immediately ready for filling and then stacking.
However, reversing is not absolutely necessary. After all, the support member 5 can also be moved and held from the first position to the second position. Nesting requires more attention. Optionally, an operating member for the supporting member 5 can be provided for this purpose on the outside of the holder 5. Nesting and stacking is then still simplified, because it is known that with the holder held upright the support member 5 always occupies the first position.
The reverse situation is of course also possible, in which in the upright position the supporting member always occupies the second position. However, when stacking, it is then always necessary to hold the support member in the first position with a container as shown here, because in the inverted position it naturally loses its contents.
Furthermore, a different shape can also be chosen for the support member. This can for instance be plate-shaped and elongated, with the hinge line on one of the sides, displaced relative to. the centerline of the plate seen in cross section.
