Abstract
Description
The invention relates to an iron chute for tapping molten pig iron from a blast furnace, at least comprising a wear lining which forms a boundary carrying the iron during operation and a permanent lining in which the wear lining is included, a steel or concrete outer boundary and at least an outer lining with a high heat conduction coefficient which is placed between the outer boundary and the permanent lining.
An iron trough of this kind is known from the "Iron & Steel Engineer" of October 1988, pages 47 - 51. A problem of this known iron trough is the heavy wear which occurs mainly at the level of the iron-slag boundary layer, which ultimately necessitates repair of the iron-carrying wear lining during operation. This is a problem in particular because this wear in the vicinity of the boundary layer is quite severe due to the strongly abrasive effect of the slag, so that an otherwise largely intact wear layer must be broken away during repair.
The object of the invention is now to make the wear of the wear lining more uniform, so that an extension of the operating time of the iron chute is possible and it can be operated with lower operational costs.
For this purpose, the iron gutter according to the invention is characterized in that the outer lining is provided with a thickening in the direction of the wear lining, which thickening is applied at the level of the boundary layer present during operation between the iron fed through the gutter and a slag layer floating on the iron .
Surprisingly, it has been found that the wear of the wear liner there is prevented by the improved cooling of the wear lining at the location where the iron-slag boundary layer is located during operation. This effect is greatly enhanced by the embodiment of the iron chute in which the thickening of the outer liner directly abuts the remainder liner.
The invention will be explained in more detail below with reference to the drawing of a non-limiting exemplary embodiment of the iron gutter according to the invention.
Fig. 1 shows a cross section of the iron trough according to the invention.
In fig. Fig. 1 shows the iron chute 1, the iron-bearing boundary of which is formed by a wear liner 2. For the wear liner 2, which can consist of a number of layers which are mutually movable, different types of material can be used, but it is customary to use a refractory concrete here. Directly adjacent to the wear lining 2, as a permanent lining, a carbon intermediate lining 3 can be used for temperature equalization of the wear lining 2. However, this intermediate lining 3 is not essential to the invention. Adjacent to this intermediate liner 3 and in the absence thereof, adjacent to the wear liner 2, an insulating layer 4 is provided which consists of a refractory concrete. The outer lining 6, 7 consists of a bottom plate 6 and side walls 7 which are mutually thermally coupled. By taking carbon, graphite or semi-graphite, but preferably graphite for the outer lining 6, the desired thermal conductivity is obtained at this location and it is possible to apply insulating refractory coatings 8, 9 directly on the side walls 7.
According to the invention, the thermally highly conductive side walls 7 of the iron chute 1 are now also provided with a thickening 10 in the direction of the wear liner 2, which thickening 10 'is arranged at the location where the boundary layer is located between the lined iron 11 and the slag layer 12 floating thereon. The thickening 10 preferably lies directly against the wear lining 2. This provides a particularly effective local cooling of the wear lining 2 at the level of the iron-slag boundary layer, as a result of which wear of the wear lining 2 at the level of said boundary layer is prevented and a longer service life of the wear lining is achieved.
