Abstract

The travelling beet-topping implement has a rigid frame and a set of bars assembled into a variable-shape polygon, partic. a quadrilateral by means of movable hinge points. A first and second hinge point are coupled to the frame and one at least of them is a connector turning on a horizontal axis. A feeler moving over the ground is secured via an arm and the bar quadrilateral to the frame movably. The quadrilateral also accommodates a topping knife with edge towards the travel direction. The point (21) at which the knife arm(6) is mounted on the quadrilateral is situated between the hinge point (13) turning on the frame (20) on a horizontal axis and the mounting point (15) of the feeler arm (3). The other coupling point of the quadrilateral to the frame is a sliding one (16). The knife holder (18) outside the quadrilateral is coupled to the feeler arm by an intermediate one (10), which has a sliding joint (2).
