Abstract

The electronic camera flash has a battery and a flash lamp which uses two main electrodes and a starter electrode. There is an auxiliary circuit which produces an HV discharge pulse between the starter electrode and one of the main electrodes. One of the terminals (41) is connected to the main electrode (8) of the flash lamp and the other terminal (40) is connected to the starter electrode (10). There is a capacitor (42) connected between the terminal and the starter electrode. The second main electrode (9) is connected to the battery (1) via a switch (7).
