Abstract
Removal of CO, SO2 and NOx from waste gas is effected by passing the gas over these cpds., which can be in the form of a mixed bed or a first sulphide zone and a second oxide zone, opt. sepd. by steel wool or wire netting. The process can be used for removing these impurities and unburnt hydrocarbons from i.c. engine exhaust gases from the combustion of fossil fuels. The materials used are readily available and cheap and are self-regenerating so that they seldom need to be replaced. The process is carried out at between room temp. and 760 degrees C.
